its been fairly quiet over here as well, apart from the usual SAS Gazelles and Agustas.. saying that about 2 Saturdays ago we had another RAF “SAR” Seaking landing at the hospital just down the road.. she took off, circled around very low and landed again, about 10 mins later she departed.. fantastic sight.. makes a change to the usual air ambulances… 🙂

    Quite so Der.

Canpark … you may be right only if what you mean is that global warming is making the weather patterns more radical – but not if you are trying to say temperatures generally are higher – globally! It’s friggin freezing here in NZ, one of the worst (cold, snow, wet, etc.) Junes on record (worst in 20 years or something like that) and July not shaping up to be much better.

So if you do mean that global warming is creating wilder weather patterns (hotter, colder, windier, etc.) then I’ll perhaps agree with you.

try and explain why the Polar ice caps are melting so rapidly then, global warming is also a natural thing, it has happend many times during Earths history, the trouble is now us humans are speeding up the process, what used to take many thousands of years to take place, now takes a few 10s of years. freak weather is a part of global warming..

my brother and i used to do this sort of thing when we where kids, wow this really takes me back.. trouble is with me i would go for personal preferences apart from the most cost effective or capable.. so my airforce would be…

3 sqns, 70 aircraft. Su-27 Flankers.. probabley go for used examples, though refurbished.

2 sqns, 50 aircraft. F-16 vipers.. refurbed used aircraft..
both types used mainly for air defence but the viper sqns would have a strike capability.

2 sqns, 50 aircraft.. Su-24 fencer, main strike asset.

3 sqns, 70 aircraft. BAE Hawk 200, for the close support role

    1 sqn, 25 aircraft. C-130 Hercules, transport

4 or 5 aircraft… IL-76 Midas tankers, also 6 Hawkeye AWACS, 10 An-26, light transport, about 60 trainer types.. shorts tucano, Hawk,… about 70 various helicopters.. possibly.. Mil-17 for transport, 4 or 5 Mil-6 for heavy transport.. 25 Mil-24 for battlefeild operations..

with this airforce i think my nation would be well resepcted and feared.. 😀 😀 😉

discovrey wings is a great channel. though i do agree it shows a lot of repeats. loved the Aviation Archive Weekend that was on a few months back, the old films on Hunters, Canberras, Javelins and Lightnings was awesome.. the Aircraft Stories Series is good as well, watched one the other night on Russian Helicopters, the program had great footage on Mil-6s, Mil-10s etc….. 🙂

thank you for that, i always think the Tu-22m was slightly based on the Tu-22… sort of a more refined version.. i always wonder what was “or is” it like to fly a Blinder or Backfire, i have heard the blinder was a very unforgiving aircraft, especially on landing.. i would have thought the Backfire would be quite pleasing to fly.. how agile are they.. are we talking Vulcan or B-52… 🙂

Space is big,you just wont believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is.I mean you may think its a long way down the road to the chemists, but that’s just peanuts to space…….
    Mr D adams 😀

oh yes its very big… just to show how big space is… light takes about 8 mins to reach us from the Sun, our nearest Star.. the next nearest star to us, light takes over 4 years to reach us.. our sun is about 93 million miles away by the way…
another strange fact… the Sun is 400 times bigger in size then our Moon, but our Moon is 400 times closer.. that is why they both look the same size to us… sorry im boring you now…. 😀 😀 😀
