    i wish someone could pay the americans some money to scrap them B-2 things…you never know they mite bring back the B-58 and SR-71 then…just look at the money they would save…. 😀

    the last photo is a strange one..looks like a soviet F-105….is it a sukhoi p-1……i may be wrong. nice photo though….

    its great to hear the russians are rebuilding [or making] some more blackjacks……tell me is it still the biggest most powerful combat aircraft ever flown. i have head that the ukraine scrapped what was left of there tu-160s is this true…..

    i have always been fond of the hind…a mean looking beast dont you think???… has enyone have eny photos of the early hind, the one with the big [green house] canopy…also is there eny of these early mil-24s still active enywhere.

    im glad the sukhoi t-4 has beem mentoined, it was a fantastic aircraft, sort of a soviet version of the XB-70. i belive it was one of the first aircraft to have a fly-by-wire control system…ive found some pictures of the brute…..

    i have heard a rumer that a batch of 50 tu-14 bosuns was supplied to china in 1958/59. do enyone have eny info on these…
    although not bombers, has enyone have eny info [or pictures] of the yak-25rv mandrake and the yak-27r mangrove…

    You sure you don’t mean 24 external? With two hardpoints that would leave one bomb in an odd or asymmetrical place…care to explain?

    Maybe you meant 24 externally and 18 internally?

    thanks for pointing that out… 😉 …i was never very good at maths at school…lol…..i did mean 24 500kg bombs externally..still it would be a impressive sight.

    the way i look at it…..in a real, real, major, big time emergancey the BBMFs hurris and spits could be uesd as operational aircraft…like i suppose the other warbirds still flying in the UK.. i know during WW2 a large number of cival registered aircraft where press ganged into military service.
    what i ment though when i asked the question is when was the last FRONT LINE combat capable single or twined engined piston engined fighter or fighter bomber aircraft to serve with the RAF and FAA….i know the sea fury was used in the korean war….i think they even shot down a couple of mig-15s…WOW…… 🙂

    the buccaneer could actually carry 16 thousand pounders. 4 in the bomb bay

    as for the conventional bomb loads of the tu-22m backfire, they could carry..2 FAB-3000kg or 8 FAV-1500kg or 42 FAB-500kg [17 internal 25 external] or 69 FAB-250kg [33 internal 36 external]. the normal bomb load was 12 tons though a max of 24 tons can be carried…now i would love to see a pic of a backfire loaded up with 42 500kg bombs….

    has enyone have eny idea what going to happen to there foxbats….do you rekon they will let me have one…i would have to get a bigger garage though……… 🙂

    in my personal opinion..the SR-71 blackbird and mig-25 foxbat rank as some of the greatest feats in avaition history. to see people finding fault with these amazing aircraft makes me laugh, to be honest with you..
    its true the blackbird and foxbat where not perfect, and they had there faults…but what aircaft dosent. both types had or still have long and succsesful careers. the blackbird wich sadley is no longer with us was only withdrawn on fiancial grounds. and the foxbat story will be with us for a long time to come as the mig-31 foxhound. the old term comes to mind; what is the only replacment for a exellent design…a improved version of the same thing of course…

    they did make all weather versions of he mig-17 and mig-19. they where the mig-17PFU and the mig-19PM. fresco E and farmer B was NATOS name for them. the mig-17PFU was the soviets first missile armed fighter….the aa-1 alkali was a very primative beam riding AAM, with a range of about 3 miles. it was the soviets first AAM. only the mig-17, mig-19, and su-9 carried the weapon….i havnt heard of eny kills made by the aa-1, i dont think they where used for long. as more advanced missiles where made soon after…

    oh yes…….sorry it was a flanker wasnt it. got my flankers mixed up with my flagons…lol…not that easy to do is it!!!!!!. i have had a long week. [well thats my excuse enyway].
