heres some [blinding] pics of blinders!!!!!!!. 🙂
i think only the US equip some of there helicopters with refeuling probes, its not a very common practise..how meny [chooper tanker] hercs have they got….
i may be wrong but didnt javelins fire on eygption tu-16s on a few occations, i think it was the suez crises….B-47s was used in nam im sure of it, in the early days though. the F-106 dart was never used in anger was it, what about RAF F-4s i think it was one of the few operators thet never used them in anger. japan is the only other nation i can think of….
what a fantastic model of a firebar…i want one.. 😀
it seems a bit of a waste dosent it, launching 2 missiles on 1 target, though if it killed a bomber full of nukes, it would be worth it, the fispots, flagons and firebars where just 1 shot interceptors, the fiddler and foxbat where 2 shot interceptors. i would be interested to know how meny interceptors the IA-PVO could get airborne at once at there peak strenth.i bet it was thousands……
heres some pics
im sorry people…for bringing back a old thread..i was gonna start one but i found there was one already going…
the reason being i have always been a massive fan of the DH sea vixen..so if enyone has eny photos of vixens [in service or preservation] .i would love to see them….. 🙂
the US gave canada voodoos after they made them cancel the arrow….
remember the turkish airforce was supplied with a large number of F-102 daggers..
i can remember reading in old books that a interceptor version of the tu-22 blinder was being considerd..i wonder if one ever flew…..or was this just guess work by NATO..now that would have been interesting…
i never thought i would see a thread on the fiat G-91….a often forgotten aircraft..is there eny still in sevice these days??, im pretty sure the italian airforce has retired theres, i always thought the little fiats looked cool..did portugal replace there fiats with F-16s…
I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!.
to me its just fantastic seeing a sea vixen in the air [where all aircraft should be]. i can remember about 18 months ago i was in pembrokeshire in wales, on the beach in saundersfoot. i heard a jet approaching as i looked up, it was there, i remember saying [shouting more like, to my girlfriend]…OH MY GOD..ITS A ****ING SEA VIXEN…..she roared over heading out to sea…it made my week i can tell you….is there eny plans in the future to paint her in royal navy colours…
all i can say is the people who keep this gorgeous aircaft in the air are fantastic….keep up the good work lads and lassess.. 😀
exellent photo of a su-11 there.
it is a pity the flagon was never exported, then some may still be in use today..but as people have already pointed out they where a bit to specalised for eny contry to be really interested in operating them, same goes for the fiddler, saying that the foxbat was exported in quite large numbers, though there was a reccie version. i think the only country that probably would have bought these aircraft would have been china. but relations between the two countrys was not very good at the time of the aircrafts production.
the soviet unions way of exporting aircraft has always been strange..aircraft like the tu-16, tu-22, su-24, il-38, mig-25 was all exported. while yak-28, su-15 , m-4, tu-95 [apart from a few tu-142s to india], never was.
do enyone know hoe meny hooks and harkes are left these days…i did read somewhere once that they was all grounded in the early 90s…is this true if so why??…i would think there are none left in military sevice but is there eny cival operaters using them…such a large helicopter would be useful dont you think….
can i ask you all a question……apart from the mig-29 and su-27 family…what is your favorite soviet or russian fighter or interceptor.you can give me a top 5 if you like …..heres mine
no 1…tupolev tu-128 fiddler
no 2…sukhoi su-15 flagon
no 3…mikoyan-gurevich mig-25 foxbat
no 4…mikoyan-gurevich mig-23 flogger
no 5…yakovlev yak-28p firebar
i may seem a silly question, but i wonder how meny tanks say the RAF, USAF, drop a year…i would think they can only be dropped over the sea, a interesting but overlooked subject…
