A few key bits:

Conformal tanks are essentially drag neutral at cruise speed but impose a penalty at transonic speeds. (No surprises)

A Super Hornet with conformal tanks and a weapons pod with 4x AMRAAM will have similar drag to a SH with just four AMRAAM. This aircraft would also have a lower RCS of course.

The flight test this summer will include the internal IRST, and a “slew of RCS enhancement measures.”

Not discussed but clearly visible on the aircraft are missile warning sensors. Not clear if those are part of the flight test.

Nice looking jet, throw in the enhanced engines and you will be talking about a really potent aircraft.

Nice one hopslalot, i want EPE Engines on the Super Hornet! 🙁 😀

Yeah, I guess the opening post was totally misleading. I think I should post some photos of amazing ponys. Ya know, they are no bloody Tornado but hey, I like spamming pictures of them anyway. :stupid:

Hello welcome F-15fan. Don’t get to happy saying your opinions. 😉 when I joined the forum I got into arguments about my favorite plane but everybody got friendly with me. So careful of what your saying. people who know allot about f-15 can be a little mean and can say the truth about it. Anyways take care F-15fan you’ll learn allot on the forum.

X-47 for the Navy! Id like the X-47 to do a combat sortie on the fleet. Finally a combat ground attack platform that’s stealthy in design. I like this unmanned drone. Welcome to the fleet X-47! 😀

historic aircraft have been around for a long time, have almost no new development, and have been dissected in and out. lots of information on their performance and uses
modern aircraft are still ongoing and fueled by speculation

Well we got there in the end and welcome. From your forum name I presume Modern Military appeals to you or do you just enjoy aviation across the board?
