Yes, Make sure that you paste in between the two quote tabs that appear..
Ok thanks, i’ll fix that reply.
Use the quote feature in the reply. Its at the top where options such as one for BOLD , VIDEO , IMAGE etc are there..
??
Thanks so you press the bubble and there’s the two words that pop quote then what should I do? Should I copy and paste the reply like you did in the last one?
So it was not designed as a Multi role fighter? Just because it was not an all out AD Optimized design like the F-22 does not mean it was not designed for air combat. It replaces the F-16 and F-18 the mainstays of the USAF and USN Air warfare fleet. If the F-18E/F is not as or more capable in air combat compared to the F-22 , do we say the F-18E/F is not designed for air combat?
There both designed as Multi-Role Fighters. But the F-35 wasn’t designed to dogfight or have A2A role, but instead the F-35 has both a2g and a2a roles but it’s tasks are more air to ground. The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet were designed for Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground the Super Hornet is more ADVANCED and larger so it can defend and do many roles that no aircraft can do but the Super Hornet’s tasks are A2A, A2G, and Tanker.
The F-35 brings some advantage in WVR arena, the NG helmet for starters, Its ability to stay LO in BVR giving it potential First shots…Its HMD , DAS Integration…Overall EOTS performance , range etc etc…Thats some capability to try to neutralize…No?
It can’t fight in the WVR because the HMD has problems and it might not have the maneuverability to out maneuver Sukhoi’s in WVR.
I would not generalize like that, but i agree the F-35 would be HARD to detect without proper support. Couple that with the Integrated avionics, MADL, Passive sensors and performance of the Apg-81 (See the video i posted in the F-35 News thread) i’d say compared to a SH the F-35C would always have a FIRST Look and FIRST Shot in BVR…
No response.
So its outstanding avionics are able to pick a VLO 5th gen jet before that 5th gen jets OUTSTANDING avionics which have a whole spectrum of active/passive options does ? The Apg-81 is a fully brand new radar designed by NG, it combines full integration with EOTS, and DAS that is 360 degrees coverage…Couple that with MADL, and a VLO airframe , the detection advantage would ALWAYS rest with the F-35 much like the F-22 vs Legacy BVR engagements..
Don’t have a response here.
The F-35 has HMD, 9x and DAS which will be an excellent system to have for close combat especially when fighting with wingmen .. Again see how DAS, HMD, is supposed to work in combat for the F-35..
Sorry dont have a response for this one.
According to pilots that tested the F-35 @ High AOA’s they claim that it flies better then the legacy jets in that regime…
sorry how do you do that response like you did? I have problems with that, look in the blue things and look at my replies under your paragraphs.
?
By that definition PROVEN aircraft should never ever be replaced. The F-22 before its IOC would also not be able to match the COMBAT PROVEN F-15C, and the F15 before IOC could also not match the Proven F-4….The Eurofighter of course is not as capable as the PROVEN Tornado, and when the SH was inducted it was no better then the PROVEN Hornet or tomcat 🙂 The F-35 will take over the strike mission, because operating in contested airspace for legacy jets is a pain in the a$$ and requires tremendous amounts of support from dedicated ISR,EW, and tankers (Going around “hot spots” etc and planning for an eventuality where you need to have more legs to complete the mission and that is going to be tasked to the only stealthy manned asset available to the USN currently and for the foreseeable future. In air to air, the F-35 has a lot of edge compared to the SH, they share the same weaponry, the F-35C would have more range on internal fuel (iirc), more sophisticated avionics , VLO design, DAS for offensive/defensive ops…I really do not see an area of air combat where the SH is superior compared to the F-35, either in WVR, or in BVR and definitly not in strike against a credible/defended target….Point out where the F-18E/F has an edge over the F-35 in air combat !
Since the F-35 wasn’t designed to dogfight or be a A2A plane I’ll have to give the F-35 to the BVR place. The F-35 wouldn’t be detected because of stealth and is far away and the enemy wouldn’t see it. The Super Hornet I’ll give it to both BVR WVR arena that’s because the BVR the Super would get the lock on first because with is outstanding avionics and reduced RCS. WVR arena for the Super because with JHMD, AIM-9x, AMRAAM and newer EPE Engines. it would have the ability to outmaneuver flankers and the Super Hornet has superior and outstanding low speed agility dogfighting skills to be the winner of the flanker kills. Anyway proven aircraft have to be retired because it’s not suitable for today’s war due to the newer technology and oldness. Anyways when we’re taking about Ground Attack for F-35 and Super Hornet you’re always going to know that the F-35 is superior in the Ground Attack arena due to stealth and more bombs carried.
Reading into the story a little more, I have to say I agree with you, re Farian…
Anyway, some of my favourite 80’s tracks… This list is not exhaustive!
Tiffany – I Think We’re Alone Now
Scorpions – Wind Of Change
Police – Every Breath You TakeIt may have been easier to list my favourite solo artists and bands, so here goes:
Level 42, Genesis, OMD, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Belinda Carlisle, Police, Depeche Mode (before they went “weird”), The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, and quite a few more.
I’ve just rediscovered two Debbie Gibson CDs. (Remember her?)
Nice 🙂 😉

Of course LM lied and said they could meet ludicrous requirements in no time flat for a fiver — that’s their job. They would be doing their shareholders a disservice if they didn’t attempt to secure the most lucrative contract in military history by any means necessary. It’s the job of the Pentagon, USAF et al. to spot those lies. And it’s the job of the Australian government and RAAF to critically evaluate the information it is provided by both LM and US government sources in the knowledge that those sending it have interests that diverge from our own. America’s problems with F-35 are its own to sort out, the responsibility for Australia’s debacle rests here.
Of course LM lies all of the time. You wonder why LM pressured Australia to by F-35’s? But instead they picked the Super Bug. But Scooter is just an unacceptable man saying a proven aircraft will be out matched by the F-35. The F-35 won’t be as successful as any other aircraft. By that the F-35 will be a very effective Ground Attack fighter and the Super Hornet will be effective defending carriers and effective in the A2A role with JHMD, AIM-9x, AMRAAM, APG-79 Radar, and EPE Engines. But the E/A-18 and the Super Hornet is what we all got left to be the best of the best for the navy. Then we’re stuck with the F-35 but I saw a video saying stealth is just useless for A2A combat and stealth is very important for the Air To Ground Role.
🙁
Marcel Marceau was a famous mime artist.
Milli Vanilli were famously exposed for lip-synching (i.e. miming) during their live concerts.See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdRrCZ9DDcw (Skip to 1:50).
I saw this video I just can’t belive that Frank Farian didnt even get blamed by the scandal of Milli Vanilli. But any ways RIP Rob Pilatus. Fab & Rob could’ve did it if Rob didnt die. Well Fab has the voice and is doing very well in his life.
Frank Farian is just EVIL.

No. The progress in AI technology has been lagging and has not produced an AI system that could be used for autonomous combat missions.
This is why F-X, F/A-XX, and the Next-Gen Bombers are all manned. Current drones require human intervention via satellite link, which exposes them to the risks of jamming and signal tracking.
The only way to solve this problem is to have a human operator fly with drones in the backseat of a fighter jet and communicate with drones via secure communication.
O ok.
Blimey! You mean it isn’t the 80’s anymore??? :highly_amused:
I’m with Charlie. I lost interest in popular music back in the 80’s around 1986/87 onwards. Basically, when all of that Stock, Aitken and Waterman stuff hit the charts. My era, if we’re talking 80’s music alone, was the first few years of the decade when we had some truly new and exciting stuff. New Romantics, New Wave, Electronica etc etc. I could watch Top of the Pops and like most of what was being played! I tried watching a chart show a few weeks ago. Less said about that, the better!
I’m a sad, nostalgic sort of git. I still have my original Sharp GF6060 Boom Box that I got for my 13th birthday in 1982, and all of my cassettes. So I can listen to all of my favourite 80’s tunes on the original format on my original cassette player. Love it!
As for the music….too much to list, but a few favourites were Howard Jones, Blancmange, Talk Talk, Gary Numan, Visage, The Damned, Simple Minds, U2 (When they were good!) Alphaville, Early Human League, Big Country, The Cult, Men at Work, Scritti Politti, The Police (although their first two albums were the best, so maybe more 70’s!) Undertones, Thompson Twins…etc etc…
I’ll throw these two into the hat….
A band that should have got more recognition than they got..

…And one of Australia’s greatest exports!

That’s ok you don’t need to shut up. 🙂 this was one of the best music era and life! I remember me listening to Cindy Luaper Time After Time when I was playing with the Rubix Cube. 😀

Ah. Milli Vanilli.
Reminds me of a joke:
Q. What’s the difference between Marcel Marceau and Milli Vanilli?
A. **** all.
