Spent the day watching my lad play cricket on Sunday. What a beautiful day. Took both my camera, my SLR and my little “slip in the pocket” compact. the little one (camera not son) eats batteries, so I slipped a couple of spare AAA batteries in my shorts pocket. Well, the heat was getting to me, so a visit to the club house for a refreshing pint of cider was in order. So there is I, reclining in the sun, cider in hand, watching my lad play. Perfick. Then I started to get a strange feeling in my leg. Seemed to be tingling. I have back problems, so thought nothing of it, just me nerves again thinks I. Then it started feeling warmer, very quickly, then intense pain. Initial thought was a wasp had crawled up my leg and stung me. Then more pain and heat. Put hand on pocket and ….OWWWWWW! Pulled out pocket lining, where the two batteries and the change from my pint spilled on to the floor….. both absoloutly red hot, and I mean red hot. Thechange and batteries must have caused a short or whatever in my pocket. Result. Melted nylon lining of pocket and big blister on thigh. Damned sore!
So, obvious top tip of the day, don’t keep batteries in your pocket with change. 1.5V x2 can be darned painful!!Oh and we lost, but Sam got a decent wicket!
Bloody hell 😮 did you Mrs believe your explanation 😀

Indeed, can’t remember what I paid now, but it was cheap 😀
Having flown UK to Melbourne on Britannia and Sydney to UK on their successors Thompsonfly I think I can stand anything
Bit of a nuisance that, I was hoping to take Airasia x from the U.K to Melbourne end of next year (via K.L of course) 🙁
That’s great, I’ve been looking for something like this for ages 🙂
Short skirts, trolley dolly’s and catfights, sounds like a good show :dev2:
As far as I’m aware it was both. I believe the pilot flew lower than he had been cleared to do so but wasn’t entirely familiar with the way the software on the A320 operated. If I remember correctly the aircraft assumed, due to it being at a lower altitude than it should have been, that the pilot was trying to land. When the pilot asked for more power to climb over the trees, the aircraft decided it didn’t really want to respond and continued trying to land.
I may be wrong but I believe they were the basics, and I believe the software on the A320 was changed after this incident, as was the way the pilots were trained. Please correct me if I’m wrong!
I don’t think that was the case, the aeroplane did not try to land itself, the pilot flew the thing far too low and far too slow, the pilot did not give the engines time to develop sufficient thrust to clear the trees.
Merry Christmas all 😀
Why don’t you try tinypic or imageshack, you don’t need an account with either.
