I recommend all to visit the Beliefnet website and have a go at the Belief-O-Matic, quite fun.
I’m 100% Secular Humanist 🙂
Which came first though, religion or gods?
If you can answer that question convincingly, you’re a better person than I am!
That’s an easy one, religion came first, we know that exists, as yet there is no proof that any gods exist.

Is it? How can you deny the existence of religion? It exists, and I can prove it!
The existence of deities can be denied however, because nobody can prove they exist!
So religion, any religion, boils down to one question ‘is there a god (or gods)?’ and no amount of dogma, books, tradition, history, temples, ceremony, government support or celebrity endorsement can change that.
You’re getting closer to the truth mate, keep going, but the fact is, the religious don’t ask the question “is there a God” because without God there is no religion.

OK, but without god (or gods) what have you got?
Everything else relies upon that one assumption with the exception of morals and, despite what some followers of religion think, it is possible to live by a moral code without a ‘recognised’ religion.
So I’d say that atheism is as much a religion as any other on planet.
What you have is the truth, just because it’s not comforting does not make it untrue.
No it’s not, how can an absence of belief in a theory be called a religion, do you believe Elvis is alive and driving a taxi in Luton, if not is that then some kind of religion?

Or my own take on it is “as there is no proof of God, then such an entity probably does not exist ” should anyone be able to supply such proof I would gladly re-examine my position

Atheism is a system of religious belief
No it’s not.

I don’t worship myself by the way, but if I did, I would at least be worshiping something that I can prove exists
