The mobile launcher looks like something designed by Top Gear……..
At least the Russians had armoured plates that dropped down to protect the windscreen from the rocket blast
Happy to be proved wrong then
Doesn’t the LLA supply the guides for the BBMF hangar tours?
Will the change in direction for the LLA mean that these tours will cease – or will they be continued under new management?
excellent news – good to see co-operation like this
Presumably you are liaising with the Assault Glider Trust who have built at least two already. They must be the best source of advice and information for all things Horsa
it was a long time ago…..

must have been on a DHAS jaunt when I saw it and the Spit XIV
I seem to recall seeing a Miles type – possibly a Whitney Straight – in the same hangar as the Spitfire XIV – is that right?
You want the most restrictive elements of every country’s regs to apply to all fliers world-wide?
No
Is Perranporth the new Legends?
Jeepman -the RE8 and Albatros flew in the U.K on the N.Z register .
Oh – OK – thanks for that.
Shame this sort of thing can’t be harmonised though.
Just an idle thought, but I wonder if it would even be possible these days, even with money being no object, to recreate engines that would be acceptable to the CAA.
Didn’t the RAFM DVa and RE8 fly with new-build engines in the UK?
My vote goes to a proper MB5 or a Fairey Fantome
The RAF Museum has an R1 – at Cosford – and an R3 – on loan to DTM Berlin – so it might be one of these – presumably transiting through the missile museum at RAF Newton
Brings a whole new meaning to …….
“Squadron scramble”
I’ll get my coat
Sorry can’t help with the colour scheme but UB-348 is actually a Consul delivered in February 1950, rather than an Oxford. Such an aircraft firing RPs must have been a sight to behold.
If the underside is PRU blue then I suppose the uppersurfaces could have been Medium Sea Grey which would have matched a current RAF scheme at the time
but to what end?
