Does Mosquito Survivors by Stuart Howe (Aston Publications) remain the definitive history of surviving Mosquito airframes? I can’t imagine that it has dated as much as its contemporary, Spitfire Survivors from the same publisher

Sacrelage!!!!!!!! shame on you Scott:eek::eek:, the only MV’s entitled to be called Jeeps Have Willys on the grille and chassis or are Ford GPA’s ;)-( even Hotchkiss’s don’t qualify).:D

Do you mean GPWs – GPAs are the amphibs

No MB ever had Willys on the grille – early MBs/GPWs had the name embossed on the back panel (script bodies) but even this died out by mid 42

Come to Jeep and Cheerful on 11th Sept and we’ll give you a lesson in jeep identification:diablo: You may need lots of Red Bull to keep awake though….

Is that the ex -TFC one?

I prefer to say it’s the ex IWM example that resided in Lambeth for many years and was sold off from the national collection

On an offchance, have you tried the National Firearms Centre at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. This is the new name for the Royal Small Arms Factory Pattern Room Collection, which was formerly based in Enfield.

The 20mm cannon might fall within their purview.

:dev2: You’ll be upgrading the old Cats Whisker next then…. 😀

my Dad designed and built their first TV himself using an ex RAF 3″ diameter radar display cathode ray tube – picture apparently wasn’t so much black and white as dark green and white….

I guess that’s what they had to do in those immediate post-war years when consumer products weren’t as readily available (or affordable)

Perhaps they’re giving ACSP a chance to catch up:diablo:

The sight of two DH.88 Comets in the air together would be a wondrous sight – although it would be even better if they were in formation with a Mosquito…

Looks good, not sure about the Wallace’s notes have been lost part as I thought all his papers were stored somewhere?

But see what it is like before passing any judgements, thanks for the heads up.

    Curlyboy

    It’s Wallis not Wallace

Looks as if they drop a bouncing bomb mounted on the lower rear fuselage of a Buffalo Airways (Ice Pilots) DC4 against a polystyrene (?) dam. Presumably the mounting includes the necessary gear to spin the bomb prior to launch.

I think the Day Fighter Scheme DG/OG/MSG with sky tail band and yellow recognition markings on the wing leading edges is the one scheme that people will associate with the WW.

:)Just out of interest how many Do 17’s are there in a reasonable or complete state.
Shame they couldn’t save them from Finland in the 50’s.

    Approximately none

I am appalled that this genuine high-gloss scheme has been spoilt by the absence of the most essential detail marking of such a ’70’s retro-good-old-days polyurethane attempt. To be “authentic”, it really should be marked with “Confederate Air Force” beneath the tailplane…

I though CAF stood for “Cash-strapped Air Force”

…and still with the XU 7 Squadron Bomber Command code. 🙁

as a paid up member of the roundel police, it is beholden upon me to also suggest that the dimensions of the roundel do seem a little strange snd the fin flash seems to be in an odd position -and should have the red bar forward

    Cees,

I’ve been thinking about that as well – although all my own time is currently spent restoing the Jeep – again.

The Siskin III onwards had a welded steel fuselage didn’t it – which makes things easier – particularly for a static display airframe and presumably there must be the odd (?) Jaguar around. A set of original wings already around would help – but does the full set exist?

I guess the RAFM has one or two airframes in front in the queue but it’s the sort of thing that Skysport would excel in
