Im not sure if this has been asked already, but does anyone know if the OFMC are looking at new aircraft or are in the process of restoring any more warbirds to the skies. It just seems a bt of a shame to me that they used to have many, and now not so many.
Can any of u enthusiasts shed any light?
thanks alot
Ross
Hi Ross , personally i dont think the OFMC have been the same without Ray & Mark. I know others have carried on flying the aircraft & brietling still sponsor them but not quite the same .

I would suggest ML417 & SM832 shot Dec05/Jan06 at Chino and local.
Mark
Hello Mark 12,thanks for putting me right on the year that this was shot. When SM832 was sold (to whom i cant remember but i’m sure you could tell me) she must of had the wing tips removed. I supposed that she was origionally a clipped wing MKXIV. When we were fitting the tips there were some guys from skycraft fitting a new prop because of a landing incident!!! when prop was fitted engine funs were needed to check things out & also to check the CSU, so engine was run to 2500 rpm & it was the first time of experiencing laying over the tail as ballast to keep it down. Think there were 6 of us doing it. You wouldnt believe the amount of thrust from a 5 bladed prop!!!!! real job to hang on. Great experience though!!!!!!

Hello
Just been sent this link to this film.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cXaXUaPGK3k
P.s. sorry if its been posted before
Hi 11group, nice flying but i must say cockpit scenes were a bit naf, canopy was missing in some of the shots & as for the stocking , i think they should have followed her in & taken the other 1. Nice legs though. I guess the Spits were MKXIV’s & film shot at least 9 yrs ago because one of them, SM 832 i fitted tips too on air field near Lyon in April 1998 when Christophe Jaquard owned the plane.

Time to come clean. Purely as a matter of interest, naturally!
Who admits to being or having been an Airfixer at any stage in their life?
I, for one, have to raise a hand…
Hi, I remember my first airfix kit. I think it must of been in 1963 my dad bought me an Avro Ansen kit.
Dear all,
I finally managed to find some time to re-edit the video I made of a 2 ship formation of the Breitling Fighters at EHTE on august 16th 2003, and put it on YouTube. It was a display of the Spitfire and the Corsair during the Ladies Cup. I had to add some music to mask the background noise (wife and children). Hope you like it.
Hi GliderSpit, great piece of formation flying & great video, music suited it too. Do you know who the pilots were ?

Spade grip part# – AH8068
Brake lever – AH016068 made by JD&SB
Fire Button – AH016041
Cam Button – Ref No 5D/534 made by A(crown)MI’ve purchased this about 15 years ago in a box of “junk” with items from the late 1950’s, early 1960’s, in Seattle, Washington, USA. Thanks
Hi there hopper, looks very much like it’s from a spitfire, from the ones that i’ve seen. Obviously from airplane with guns & a camera like BBMF MKIIa spit has. But then i guess this type of grip could be common to various aircraft.
Around the time of Bader’s death a figure appeared at the top of his portrait. I’m no expert on oil paintings nor did I know what Bader’s wife looked like at that time but it certainly didn’t look like anything had been added or removed. There is now what could be interpreted as the head and shoulders of a woman. Experts were given the opportunity to check the painting and concluded it had not been tampered with.
Intresting & spooky also!!!!, Thanks for that merlin 70. What about the name Sylvia M on the skin, Does anyone at the BBMF know if its still there under the paint.
Immediately next to the fuselage were the wings, beyond that Hurricane LF’. Despite the hangar having the whole of the BBMF fleet in it at the time, there was nothing near by that would have provided that image.
May be it has qualities similar to the Bader painting in RAFC College Hall.
Hi merlin 70, thats even more spoooookier, maybe Mr baxter trying to get through !!!! could understand if the words Sylvia M were visable.
Does anybody know if the words were still under the paint that has been applied over the years?
Can you enlighten me on the subject of Bader painting .
Scrapped Or Crushed!
Shame there wern’t more people around at the time with a bit of forsight & a few pounds to spend.
Hi Steve & Eddie I was on about the end of the oxygen bottle but now you said that I can see it as a oxygen bottle/tank now thanks for the informtaion 😎 Steve those two things you pointed out look like churchs bells:D is that where they normal go and wonder they are used for
James
Hi james , i’ve not seen them before on other spits so they could have been put in by the guys at the BBMF.
Steve
If so,he’s not the only one. There’s a reflection there with a fleeting image vaguely resembling a Spit… 🙂
Thanks for that RF769, at least 2 of us can see it. Spoke to chumpy today about it but he couldnt see it !!!
Agree, it is rather good!

Apparently white paint was used to aid inspection and to reflect light to provide a brighter environment. Unfortunately all it did was to hide any problems.
Dont envy anyone who has to “get up” the fuse to apply the paint. Its a shame we hadnt painted the inside of the PR XI.
Manston Airport – do you mean the end of the oxygen bottle?
Mackrel – I beleive the fuselage was painted white when the aircraft was rebuilt at St Athan. Certainly it isn’t a BBMF requirement as TE311 has got the fuselage painted silver.
Thanks for that Eddie, looks clean but i suggest not a practical colour ,and yes the end of the oxygen bottle does look like a bell.
The Cannon config will be kept as it is and you are correct that the wings were from another aircraft and were ‘adjusted’ to fit. Moving the cannon config is quite an expensive task and with all the other work and the fact that MK356 will be depicting something else in a few years time, it isn’t a priority. However, it isn’t at the bottom of the wish list either.
I have a budget and have to share it between the fighters for the next 5 to 7years. The re-spar takes a large chunk so other ‘nice to have’ changes have to be put on hold.
Hi jackattack, I was wondering why you have painted inside of fuselage white when current trend is to paint them silver. Or is this a BBMF requirement ?
