I’m fortunate to live in Lutterworth which is about 2 miles from Brunty and literally 5 minutes away in the car but whats good is from where I live, you can hear her engines being tested and it’s an awesome sound to hear.

It’s not loud, but a thundering rumble in the distance and when you hear it, it sends shivers down my spine because I know what it is.Bravo 😀 😀

Jealous? Me? Too bleedin’ right I am! Still remember lying in bed as a lad and hearing them at Waddo, and seeing those awesome 4 ship scrambles at air displays.

What gets my goat about these airport/road protester types is that they ignore the years and years of public enquiries, planning enquiries, lobbying of govt etc, and yet when they seek to impose their narrow view on the rest of us they claim to be doing it in the name of democracy.

I’m afraid I’m (just) old enough to recall when it was a monthy filled with current and historical aviation subjects, the latest military and commercial news, even a model columnn. It was edited by the great William Green and Gordon Swanborough.

At some point it was renamed Air International…then AI dropped the historical elements. Anyone know why?

IIRC, it briefly became Air Enthusiast International, then (as current) just Air International. So the old Air Enthusiast that J Boyle and myself recall with such fondness, and which was a kind of successor to the old RAF Flying Review, still lives on even if it’s a mere shadow of its former self. The quarterly (?) Air Enthusiast we’re talking about here was introduced later (obviously after the monthly changed its name) as more of a digest type read. Haven’t bought one in a while, but last time I looked at one in the shops it seemed a bit pricey, especially when there’s so much to read for free on the dear old Interweb.

I know we’re not supposed to say this kind of thing nowadays, but just look at their photos; they’re not normal. I suspect the real justice will be meted out to them in jail. Certainly hope so.

I love flying from LCY with its 20 minute check-ins, lack of crowds, 6 deg approach, and sights of Tower Bridge, Dome (or whatever it’s called now) etc. Still wish I knew what that old building is, though-

Saw someone do it in a Rallye, probably at an RAF Finningley show in the late 70s or early 80s, but I haven’t got a clue who it was.

Fascinating site (thanks) and if you delve a bit deeper and you’ll find this triple fuselage monstrosity-

We should also be thankfull that they have the aircraft right and the place right:dev2: .John.

Yeah, normally we’d expect something like “The new Boeing A380 Megadreamliner lands after its aerobatic display at New York’s Old Warden airport”

As far as Thai A-7’s go, I think I read on scramble that they are no longer operating. They were based at U-Tapao I think…..

Anyone have more up-to-date info? Am I wrong?

I passed through there in September, and there were at least 2 derelict A-7s rotting away in the sun.

Forgive my ignorance, but is the second to last one the new Mk4 Nimjob? Didn’t know one of those was going to be there.

To everyone going to Waddo; know that you’re expected to have a look into the MKI’s forward wheel bays…

Um, why? (Edit. ******. Zoot and I must have posted at just the same time)

You ******- for a second there I misread that and thought you were referring to Vulcan XH558.

Teaches me to read before getting excited, booking the next year off work and buying a camera that cost more than my car…

    Be ashamed…:D

I saw that too, note he never made jokes about white working class people from the north of England though.

I wouldn’t argue with you, but I think he may have done actually; seem to recall him making jokes about Mancs, Chavs and whatnot. Even so, there’s no doubt he was racist, bigoted, ignorant, and archaic. He also made me laugh, even when I didn’t want to.
