Bangkok, definitely. Seems to be an ever growing market for tourism to Thailand, and for those of us in the North or Midlands getting to Heathrow can be a real pain in the Jacksie. I believe Thai International are planning non-stop MAN/BKK next year; anyone know what equipment they’ll be using?
This isnβt as easy as it first appears, is it? Iβd go for-
Miles Master 1
Vickers Wellesley
Fairey Battle
Me163 Komet (assuming it could somehow be made safe to fly)
DH Sea Hornet
Short Stirling
HP Halifax
Supermarine Stranraer
HP42 (OK, essentially a civil type, but also impressed into the RAF)
HP Hampden
Heh heh. Nice one…
Yeah, who could ever forget Kenneth Williams with his “Oooooo, Matron!” or “Infamy! Infamy! They’ve all got it in for me!” Not to mention the young Barbara Windsor being examined by Jim Dale.

Congratulations! Make sure to bring him up on a good healthy balanced diet of planes, aviation, aircraft, aerospace, flying, aeronautics, and flying machines. π

Vicky Ten for me too.
Zulu on the Widescreen was fabulous, I can still remember wave after wave of Zulu warriors grouping too attack the British soldiers. About a hundred British soldiers were out numbered by several thousand Zulus. I didn’t watch it when it was shown on T.V. though, so my memory of it is a bit vague. π

Bit of a stupid question maybe, but was that chanting by the Zulu warriors taken up by Liverpool FC fans as “Liv-er-pool, Liv-er-pool”? Just sounds so similar in rhythm, and doesn’t the Kop at Anfield take its name from Spion Kop in S.Africa? What was the connection there?

One of my favourites from that time (and watched again just a few weeks ago) was Kes. Loved the football game dominated by the late great Brian Glover, the brilliant shots of the Kestrel itself, the school scenes (the poor lad getting the cane when he’d only come to deliver a message) and of course the sad ending when the older brother killed the bird. Great film.

Was “Hot Shots” a send-up of Top Gun, starring Charlie Sheen? Seem to recall the Navy Gnat was called the “Phallus” in the movie (?)

I believe the RN looked at a 2-seater F-8 in the sixties, before opting for the Phantom. Anyone have any info on how keen they were, or any pictures of how it might have looked?
