I should be able to dig out a few more if anyone is interested.
Are you serious? These are fascinating. :eagerness:
Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain, a book I’ve been meaning to read for some time. Struggled a little with the writing style at first, but enjoying it now. Read loads of books about the First World War, both fiction and non-fiction, and so was surprised how moved I felt by her account of the death of her “intended”

Top man!
But we all know 9/11 was filmed on a Hollywood back lot and never happened.
Moggy
Yes, the same one where they filmed the moon landings.

this year there 29 mass killings and of those 22 were shootings.
Oh, well that’s OK then. Good idea actually, to eliminate the problem by re-defining the term “mass shooting” I suggest we go further, and stop plane crashes by calling them “Unintentional Landings” instead.

Can I ask our US forumites what -if anything- they think should be done about the problem; surely the answer can’t be even more of what caused the problem in the first place, ie yet more lethal weapons in circulation?
Still no takers?
Anybody? I can only conclude that our American cousins here either believe it’s not really a problem, or else it’s got to be such an unholy mess now there’s nothing anyone can do to fix it.

Oh yes that brings home how incompetent our president is: [B] “We have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world,” Barack Obama said on Wednesday.
Oh, I see now. Thanks. All the fault of those pesky pinko “Liberals” Why doesn’t someone just shoot them? After all, that’s what you do over there with anyone you don’t like, isn’t it? Under Reagan, George Bush, and Dubya, “people” were never a problem; because as you’ve taught us, guns don’t kill people, people kill people (which, incidentally, makes about as much sense as saying that kettles don’t boil water, people do, or that aircraft don’t fly, people do).
