Yes, Don’t ALL the States in the USA not have to pay any fee, to name a few.

As far as I am aware from speaking to my US friends, they don’t pay a licence fee like we do. But the amount of advertising they have on their channels is phenomenal. I sampled some US style TV when I spent some time over there a few years ago. They have an ad break before the programme starts, then the opening credits then an ad break then every 10 mins or so until just before the end credits were there is another ad break both just before and just after the credits roll.

Nigger. Nigger, Nigger, Nigger. That’s the dog’s name. Not sodding “Digger”.
Fry would have been better off omitting the dog from the bloody story altogether than fannying around changing his name. The story would work just as well. Now it just sounds stupid.
Gibson would be spinning in his grave.
So, I fear, would his faithful hound.

Scotavia, Blackpool is also my home town, although the station had just about gone by the time I arrived in 1970. Apart from a brief stay at Swinderby I lived there until 2004 when I moved south.

I am still not 100% convinced about the Blackpool one, though in fairness the area has changed so much since the original was taken.
The area had a massive regeneration plan implemented in the 1970s/80s. The old photo I posted was taken from this sitehere

The second one says British Clarke and…. on the roof in the bottom right hand corner
This building was Clark and Heaps British Restaurant on Central Beach it is now an amusement arcade and cafe.

The second photo is definitely the old Blackpool Central Station. The station closed in 1964. Sadly no longer standing it is now the main central car park and the platforms on the lower right are now part of the Coral Island amusement complex. The track bed for the line is now the main link road from the M55 motorway and the old toilet block in bottom centre of the picture was, up until 2009 when it was also demolished, the last building remaining from the old station along with a low brick wall which marked the eastern boundary with Central Drive. The photo was taken from the top of the Tower. The Gasometer in the top of the picture is now the home of Blackpool Football Club

How about RAF Leuchars? I seem to remember railway lines on camp there whilst on Air Cadet summer camp in the mid nineties.

ramsbottom near bury , ooohhh fancy !!
Know it well as my mum is from there. There used to be a local newspaper called the Ramsbottom Observer, which always gives me a smile. It ran from 1891-99 and 1901-50 and now part of the Rossendale Free Press.

Also, I am wondering if a logo can really affect the way you do business, and if changing it can actually have a negative impact?
Any thoughts.:)
I think it definately can. In1997 British Airways changed their tail logos to various ‘Ethnic’ designs and despite BAs insistance they were popular, the public hated then. Even former PM Maggie Thatcher hated them and once showed her displeasure by covering the tail of a model B747 with her hankerchief saying ‘We fly the British Flag, not these awful things’ There were also some safety issue raised by Air Traffic controllers and the logos were eventually dropped in May 2001 and all the aircraft adopted the now familiar ‘Chatham Dockyard’ Union Flag logo

Just been having another look at the airfield shot with the Ansons and it looks like they could be taking off and landing on an all grass field which would possibly rule out Lee and Thorney Island which both had metalised runways, however, Grange Airfield was an all grass strip and would also fit the Fareham/Titchfield road sign mentioned in post#9 I have attached (if it works) maps of Grange Airfield taken from daveg4otu’s website

The railway at the bottom is the branch line that used to run along the coast to Lee on Solent

I have also got an address for the treasurer of the Gosport Aviation Society so I will drop them a line to see if they have any info on the filming locations.

Thanks for posting those screenshots, I have not seen the film as yet although I have read the book. Looking at the ground shots, it looks like the hangars at HMS Sultan, which would place it as being filmed at HMS Siskin/Grange Airfield.
The airfield shots could have been filmed looking SW across the airfield taking off on the old runway 23 or 26 looking at the map I have, The trees in the distance look like they could be over by the River Alver, Grange Farm and Browndown Training area which is just beyond the estate where I live and is still largely undeveloped.
However the area in the far distance looks like the Isle of Wight which would also rule out Thorney Island as that is too far east so would also help make a case for the defence for Lee or Siskin/Grange
