I’ll be voting but it depends on when the vote is and how long the poling booths are open for. the 5th May has been mooted and I’ll be doing a 12 hour day shift starting at 07:30. Maybe they will let me out for an hour to go and vote, I hope so. Personally I think voting should be compulsory and as a sweetner, poling day should be made a bank holiday. Just my thoughts.

No idea, but the French have invented this thing called gravity (it makes bombs seperate from the carrier plane- cool stuff) . Gravity, combined with a couple of lines of code in the Weapons Computer allow for fairly accurate results. 😀
WOW! 😀

I wasn’t equating the UK leadership and its actions to the Argentine leadership and theirs if that’s what you thought. Just pointing out that Aunt Maggie was a clever politician as well.
Fair point and yes she was clever and ruthless etc. This didn’t endear her to everybody though. Do you remember when she said no to President Reagan over the international space station? I read somewhere it was a rebuttal because of the USAs invasion of Grenada. Has anybody else heard this or am I on my own?

You are absolutely right. About 250 for the British forces.
1000 is more like all killed, both Brits (~250) and Argies (~750). My silly mistake, thanks for pointing out. That’s your problem. I sure would rather extermine the whole frigging invading nation rather than decide to get 250 of my soldiers killed. No qualms about it.
But then again, I care about the lives of my soldiers, not about being PC or re-elected next year.
Now I am scared.

… and some say Thatcher did the same thing in sending a task force south!
Yes but she didn’t break international law did she.

Very interesting series – I think he worked bl00dy hard for his money on this project. 🙂 I totally agree with the above comment – and it shows that most dinner ladies only heat stuff up and certainly aren’t cooks. More power to his elbow. – cheers – Allan
I think he’s worked bloody hard on everything he’s done. I used to refer to him as the fat toungued git (still do) but my opinion of him was irrelavent it seems. Fair play to him, he gets my support. He can play the drums like a pro too. Now we just have to get him to stop making those bloody Sainsbury’s ads but then, he still has to make a living. His wife is a ‘fox’ too.
Phil 🙂
To hard to tell. The two are far too evenly matched.

Oh right. I am releived. Yes I agree that the trimaran concept is a good one and I hope it progresses into service eventually.
Phil 🙂
I though the Brit Trimarans had been cancelled.

Well it makes you think when you see the C130 trials. They do say a C17 can land anywhere a C130 can.

Is it April the 1st already?

Mirage 2000 is the last Western high altitude interceptor (delta, turbojet). Even a MiG-21 can challenge a F-16 as long as it stays supersonic. The wingload of the F-16C-50/52 is well over 400kg/m² and the characteristics of the F100/F110 turbofans deteriorate fast over 15/20000ft, so as long as the Mirage stays high and fast, it should have a good chance to beat a F-16. Nothing new.
Please excuse my ignorance. Turbojet? Now that is something I did not know. Is it true? It would be the pinnacle of turbojet technology then because everybody else was switching to turbofans by that point. Fair play to em. Anyway my heart says the M2000, my head says F16. Better PtW ratio for a start.

Harrier has a supercritical wing. I think.

Take a look at “2 of 6”. That is not a SAM!

To be fair and frank the people who claimed to have done this never said it was as SAM.
Phil.
Well if I am right the UK has 1 in service frontline combat aircraft per 979 sq miles. I think.
