Could be true, its gonna happen sooner or later. You see the thing with Australia is that they are a free and independant nation and have the right to choose their head of state. Unlike your vision of Europe where everybody does exactly what Brussels tells them to do without question. Or else. 🙂

I think we need as many countries going for space as we can possibly get, Britains involvement in ESA is pathetic the best chance we have is that bloke going for the X Prize with Star Chaser. I just wish the government would give him a hand but they won’t.
I don’t care who colonises the stars first, or who lands on Mars first and if its the Chinese then good luck to them and very well done. It should give everybody else a damn good kick up the backside but I doubt the bloody British government will lift a finger to help. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Does me head in so it does.

🙂
Another example would be 2(AC)Sqn RAF. ‘AC’ standing for Army Co-operation. They fly Tornado GR4As today in the Recce role and still use AC in the squadron designation. That brings up another question. Do you use the word Recce or the word Recon? We always used Recce.
Some of the above individuals later became members of the three Eagle Squadrons made up of exclusively of American pilots and formed between September 1940 and October 1941. These were 71, 121 and 122 Squadrons. The Eagle squadrons operated as part of the RAF Fighter Command on convoy escort duties and fighter sweeps over France. All three were involved in the intense battle of Dieppe on 19 August 1942. By this date the USA had fully entered the war and the Eagles were soon transferred to the 8th US Air Force and were the three squadrons that then became the 4th Fighter Group.
There you go even this statement isn’t correct. They did a programme a while back about the Eagle squadrons and among the pilots interviewed there was a Brit and an Kiwi, plus 90% of the ground crews were of decidedely British extraction but hey lets not let the facts get in the way of the bollox.
Blue Vixen seems to be like an APG-66 derivative.
Wrong mate sorry it is a different radar altogether. 🙂

Not quite the SAS, but Niven was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Commandos during WW2. He made two films during the war, “First of the Few” in 1942 and “The Way Ahead” in 1944 – according to the Gazetteer for Scotland.Prior to embarking on his acting career, he’d been in the Highland Light Infantry.
Rob
Ah well I was close. 🙂 Thanks for the correction I never was certain what unit he fought in but I always think the word Commando is sometimes overused. If you see what I mean.

I have this film on video but haven’t watched it in years, so can’t remember it that well either. However I know I really enjoyed it. I don’t believe the scenes showing Mitchell being inspired by the way seagulls fly are accurate; neither is the scene where Mitchell decides to call the new plane Spitfire. I think he wanted to call it Shrew and he thought that Spitfire was a stupid name. But it is a very interesting film.
Ditto. Mitchells words were “Spitfire? Well thats just the silly name they would give it” ‘They’ being the air ministry. Personally I think it would have grown on him had he lived to see it do its job.
As an aside, did you know that David Niven was alternately and actor and a Special Air Service trooper during WW2? Well thats what I heard anyway. This is another film I think they could remake as well as many other WW2 films.

The Scots are allowed an identity so are the Welsh and the Irish but us English aint allowed to fly the St’Georges cross cos its “racist”, we’re not allowed to celebrate St’Georges Day cos it might upset the immigrants but we have to put up with their religious holidays etc etc. We’re not allowed to say “Merry Xmas” and now Easter is upon us will we be allowed to eat hotX buns.
Yeah I know this has post went off a tangents, but Im just getting it off my chest………………So, who does agree with Political Correctness??

DaveThe IRA is just one of many groups that attempts to raise money in the US. There are rather obvious reasons for this, and in this case it’s clearly because there are many Americans of Irish decent. We should not forget that most are decendants of folks who suffered and starved under British rule. Can a few **** disturbers raise money for the IRA? Yes and I bet they raise alot more in London. Some in the US support Bin Ladin as well. I wonder how much financial he gets from Europe?
Clearly no U.S. administration has ever supported the IRA and the two articals you referred certainly do not support your suggestion that they do. What is a fact, is that the majority of North American Irish (and those elsewhere) have clearly distanced themselves from the problems in the old country and want no part of the violence there.

There are also many British of Irish descent but fund raising never happened here. Any theories as to why?
Obviously I disagree with your claim about IRA fund raising in London.

Nobody said anything like that. You have the right to call yourself English if you want to and indeed to be proud of it. But tell me this……….what is so bad about being all of the above? I’m proud to be English too you know.
