Well I am and Im proud to be English, whatever the rest of the world think about us!!

The Scots are allowed an identity so are the Welsh and the Irish but us English aint allowed to fly the St’Georges cross cos its “racist”, we’re not allowed to celebrate St’Georges Day cos it might upset the immigrants but we have to put up with their religious holidays etc etc. We’re not allowed to say “Merry Xmas” and now Easter is upon us will we be allowed to eat hotX buns.

Yeah I know this has post went off a tangents, but Im just getting it off my chest………………So, who does agree with Political Correctness??

Nobody said anything like that. You have the right to call yourself English if you want to and indeed to be proud of it. But tell me this……….what is so bad about being all of the above? I’m proud to be English too you know.

The thing that annoys me is that when I visit the US, everyone seems oblivious to the rest of the world! For example (and yes I know you cant take a few news channels for the rest of the country, but as an example) last time i visited the US all of the news channels, thats FOX, CNN… you name it, all they had was American news. I cant remember exactly what, but I remember that in Europe there were much bigger things happening, but no, they wouldnt show it. Now, that may sound like an insult, but trust me it isnt. I think the English should be proud to be English, but at the moment its probably politically incorrect to be a patriot. Not only that, but if England was more patriotic then i think many of our problems would be solved (assylum, for example. just kick them out! i dont want to pay for assylum seekers).
Second, Europe and England are not the same. The Europeans (main people are France, Germany and Belgium in my opinion) seem to disagree everything that the English say. Lets put it this way, France doesnt like us because their army basically sucked in WWII and they are jelous that a country about half the size basically kept france alive. I wouldnt say the Germans hate us, or that they dislike us, and I am fond of Germans. They are more polite (in most cases) than the French. As another show of ignorance by the French, in the Eurovision contest, guess which nation out of how many???? about 30, didnt use English to process results on the television. You guessed it, France.
They absolutely hate the English, and I dont care. I just thinks its a pity that so many English soldiers died in France fighing for their and our freedom and yet they are ungratefull. It really fills me with anger. (and guess what, we still have to learn f******* french in school).
So keep it up America, you arent hated, its just we get hacked off youre so far up youre own ar$es (but whos perfect eh?!)

So long as I am allowed to be proud to be British mate you can do/think/say what you want. The moment you start telling me I’m English and not British, then you might get an argument. 🙂

Okay mate I think you might be a tad paranoid 😀 . I know you wouldn’t be if everybody wasn’t out to get us but at the very least if we all go missing because we used our right to freedom of speech etc, then the game is truly up. Fortunately I doubt its got that far yet but if we don’t keep the pressure up on them thats the way it will surely go. They have to understand how you feel or they will do everything you do not want them to do. This is still a free country I intend to do what I can to keep it that way.

Does anyone think that a pilot could have flown, even if not operationally, without a left left or left arm?

Was it an achievement in itself that he had been given command of a station? It certainly can’t have been a big one as he was only a Sqn Ldr, usually stations went to Wing Commanders and Group Captains.

I don’t know much but I know that Bader was not an isolated case. There were a lot of aircrew with missing limbs and other accutrements that indeed flew operationally after loosing said apendage or apendages. One story that interested me was a British Spitfire pilot (sorry I forget his name) who lost an eye in combat during the BoB but was flying fighters on ops again less than a year later. It struck me that he might be at a disadvantage seeing as his primary sensors for air to air combat were half the capability they used to be. But apparently he survived the war an ace. I know it doesn’t help much especially seeing as I can’t provide a name but if it is true (I think it was in Jonnie Johnsons biography) it only helps to strengthen the possibility that yes he did fly again.

I agree with this, look at the evidence. That shaft and fan arrangement not only takes up valuable space better used by fuel, avionics and weapons. It also adds a load of unwanted weight and a complexity of moving parts that are going to make serviceabilty an absolute nightmare. Have you seen all the moving parts??!!

Direct lift is the only answer, its not as heavy, doesn’t take up nearly as much airframe and its a damn sight simpler. Better still the method is tried and tested and needs only to be brought bang up to the current state of the art. 🙂

(I wouldn’t count on him for the Falklands though, enough problems elsewhere)

Its a good job I am not interested in your opinion then isn’t it? 😀

“OK, the UK is geographically and historically a part of Europe”. Or you say “Europe does not exist”,

Geforce are these the only choices available? Whats wrong with, “yes we are a part of Europe, yes we want to trade, co-operate, watch each others backs, look after each other etc but not be part of an ever more federal superstate.” Why can we not do all these things and still be allowed our independence? Why do you allow so little choice and why do you expect us to just agree with you? Why do you villify us when we don’t agree with you and what makes you think we regard ourselves as any better than Europe? Different perhaps in a small way but better? No. Nobody ever said that.
