I think we all have to agree that the F-22 is a rather attractive aircraft

Do we? Okay its not a complete ugly git but if it is asthetic appeal we are talking about, and I think it is, IMHO the YF23 wins hands down. Its only an opinion.

Mine is the British governments decision to replace the engines on its new Phantoms with Rolls Royce Speys. Made a great plane wider and less powerful.

Yes it was wider and slower but it was also more powerful which gave it better accelleration and low speed handling characteristics, it had a better sustained turning capability and although it wasn’t as fast as the J79 Phantom it could still do 1,320mph which is plenty fast in my book.

Yeah but the it is not ‘unloved’ by those who are meant to fly them or by those who have flown them. Its the pigging, pi**ing, ass licking, money grubbing, power hungry politicians who do not love it. They love thier payrises and their re-election prospects and the back handers delivered to them by the US government veiled as a ‘thankyou’ for support. When the European industry goes under completely then the US can name their price for their hardware and that doesn’t seem like a ‘thankyou’ to me, its a kick in the teeth and the politicos love it.

What do they care what our services use to go into combat with, give them slingshots for all the politcos care, why worry? Afterall there is never ever going to be another war and even if there is ALL of the politicians will bend over and say “go on, take me, I surrender because I am a spineless crappy little beurocrat and I will do ANYTHING to maintain my position. I ain’t going to have to fight a war so why should I care?”

I follow the ‘Billy Connolly’ School of Politics that states:

The desire to be a politician should automatically ban someone from ever becoming one.

Gods I hate them so much I can taste it. They’re not interested in democracy or health, education, defence or law and order or any other cornerstone of good government. They are interested in themselves and themselves alone and they should be brought to account for the bad decisions that they make so we can find out just how these decisions affect the individuals. If it is found that they benefitted financially or in any other self enhancing way put them up in front of a judge and jury and lets see if they get prosecuted and sent down. 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

Is’nt it bad enough that some in your government think that the Gripen is a better choice or is simply better than the Typhoon?

Name names and I may consider your argument but so far the only ones who have expressed concerns about this aircraft are the ones that know least about it.

You are right if you refer to internal systems (Engines, Radar). But the shape and aerodynamical layout is to 90% TKF 90. Maybe that is why some of you rate it lower than other modern fighters…

Well it is debateable I will give you that but who built it? If you consider the EAP to be the flying TKF90, who built it? The Germans didn’t.

I must agree that both will do a good job once thay are in service but it seems like it will still be years before there will be enough of them to matter.

…..and there are….like….hundreds of F22s in service right now? Or will be in the next 12 months? Your argument makes very little sense.

The Su-39 was dropped because the Avionics for the F-15 took longer than expected. If it was the fact that it wasn’t in service and it is set in the near future then the German Mig-29s shouldn’t be there either.

But then people who wanted the A10 and the F15 would have been just as PO’ed as you are about the SU39. Personally the Frogfoots are not my favourites at all and if they just modelled another one at the expense of the two American jets I ‘might’ have been less inclined to buy the sim. If the Mig29 had been missing I would have said forget it, not a chance. I think it is well balanced and they can add more later.

On the contrary…if simply NO POLITICS at all then Britain will have today’s Typhoon PERIOD No partners needed, enters service years earlier, and should be Trench3 by now…Then, you guys can then sell it to the others with profits for keeps….Sure, Germany will probably buy Rafale, but Germany is the biggest reason for all the problems the EF2000 program had/has/will have and why due to delays it is much more expensive now. You’re wondering about this now???? I was wondering about it when it happened…say over a decade ago when Britain should’ve just say good bye to the others.

Yes we were wondering about it a decade ago but we are still wondering about it now.

In the PS piccy I think the Tail needs to be wider, though not by much and it needs to be angled back a bit. But you are on the right lines.

    phil could help me!

Oh blimey sorry mate I wish I could but you have to remember your English is still a whole lot better than my French. I’m not proud about it. Sorry.

The F23 is gorgeous, it has style, it makes the F22 look like a brick.

    Does that help?:)
