The Buccaneer is classed as complex.
Because it has no manual reversion If the hydraulics fail it only goes one way……..

The system will not allow one to fly in the UK because of this. I presume the Sea Vixen does have it.
The lightning im’m not sure does it have hrdraulic flight controls or is it pulley’s and wires ?

Also i heard that Jet Provost can be flown on a PPL ?

I think we are all of a sudden going to see a flurry of activity with this now.

That is one of the goals but sometime in the future. Priority is to get the wings back on and give her a good check over and clean up.

We were extremly pleased the gear came down pretty easily and there were a lot of smiling faces especialy Georges ! ( he probably still is smiling) The arrestor hook was cycled a few times as well.

A lot of weekends at Brunty coming up for the team now !

I hope the opportunity to get the 3 Buccs together for some pictures isnt to far away !

Yes flood there is a point and i apologise for keeping you waiting ! You dont like a bit of suspense then ?

Yes today Buccaneer S2B XW544 made the trip from Shawbury to Bruntingthorpe thanks to Russell Transport. These photos were taken yesterday afternoon during the load up. We carried the airframe backwards to allow us to leave the tail on.

Going back to the five engined SAA 747 its not uncommon for the airlines to send replacment engines attached to another aircraft and quite a few of the modern airliners have a hard piont inboard of #2 engine for this purpose.

As to the winglets they are basically a device to reduce drag from the wingtip and thus increase range and efficency of the lifting surfaces in the wingtip area so the only detremental effect would be a few less miles on the range. certainly the extra lift on the other wing would, be compensated for by a little trim adn thefly by wire on then that have it .
