Thanks for that. It’s fantastic that we now have these aircraft operating in the South.

I think its wrong to assume that Peter owns all these aircraft !!!
    Steve

RW382 is known to be owned by someone else and X4650 will pass to an American collector when finished. TD314 has also recently changed hands. But I think you’ll find he owns the rest, including BR601, TB885 and also the MK1 identity X4276. Plus possibly one more MK1 identity yet to be confirmed.
I understand the Biggin Hill faciltity isn’t just for his own Spitfires.

    Keep going Monkey!!!

So, joining TA805, RW382, TD314 and X4650. Definitely the Kent Spitfires!

    MK912

MK912 has been registered as G-BRRA to new owner Peter Monk. On G-INFO. Can we assume this is bound for Biggin Hill ?

Yes I know Ralph is doing the fuse because i was with him & Peter at hendon looking at their MK1/MKV when I was getting info to do Historic’s MK1. Would like to see how far Ralph has got with the fuse.

    Steve

Finishing off final few rivets in the belly skin and placards to be rivetted in the cockpit. Also Waiting for a flare door although I think this will be fitted at Duxford.

Hi BofB whos doing the rebuild on this one ?

    Steve

Hull Aero the fuselage, Airframe Assemblies the tailunit ( completed) and wings. Retro track and air the engine and prop. I have pics but need to get permisiion from Peter to show. ARCO will be overhauling all the systems components ready to complete the fit out. I understand the fuselage and tail will be at ARCO/ Duxford by the end of July, wings planned for April next year.

Apart from AR213 en the Calais Spit (serial escapes me at the moment) which Mk I’s are also under rebuild/reconstruction currently?
Any pics to whet our friday appetite?
    Cees

There’s one more. Peter Monk’s MK1 X4650 is well underway with the fuselage nearly complete and the wings not far behind. Knowing Peter Monk this will be the most authentic rebuild and hold, by far, the most original parts out of all the projects.
The registration, I understand, will be released soon.

Yeap…In a word snubbed by the organisors.

I understand the Kent Spitfire is involved in a charity/Veteran event tomorrow, live on GMTV at Biggin.
Nothing to do with the Air fair though.

[QUOTE=alphatango;1426734]As a fan of the Kent Spitfire I am extremely disappointed that it will not be appearing and Kentโ€™s Biggin Hill Air Show this weekend.

I am with you on this. This aircraft does a lot of good work with local events and also took part in the Normandy ceremonies this year. I see it as an insult to the owner and team of the kent Spitfire. Maybe that is what is was intended to be, who knows?
I have heard a rumour that the organisers wanted a certain pilot to fly the aircraft and this was against the owners wishes. So they found another Spitfire the pilot was allowed to fly. Do owners have a say in who fly their aircraft ?
I would have thought that the spectators would prefer the aircraft first and pilot second, they really don’t have a great concern over who’s flying. Airshows should be about the aircraft and what the spectators would like to see, not about the pilots. There are plenty of able and willing pilots and they certainly out number the available aircraft. If the commentators didn’t mention the name of the pilot would the spectaors be bothered ?
Me, personally, I just want to see this aircraft fly and I’m not fussed who’s flying it. As long as the pilots display the aircraft safely and are not trying to prove their abilities or “out do” other pilots.
What a shame it’s not in the show.

It has to be Peter Monk… Who else would you buy a used Spitfire from ? Anyway, looks like he managed to get rid of most of his ” used fish and chips “.

What a wonderful sight it was to see the Kent Spitfire over the Pointe du Hoc. Let’s hope we see the same sight next year. ๐Ÿ™‚
