For me the curious part is that there isn’t any sound from the co-pilot, and that even up to the point of impact we are informed that his breathing was regular.

If it was a deliberate act, then I’d expect some level of “excitement” or “anticipation” to increase the heart rate and therefore his breathing as the ultimate moment arrived.

Whether it is an incident induced incapacitation that has resulted in loss of awareness and therefore no change in breathing, or the co-pilot has in an act of suicide (as well as mass murder) taken something rendering his own incapacitation. Sadly that is something that we may never know for sure?

    RIP All on board

two sherperd were watching the last second of the flight

According to them it seemed as if the plane was in a ctrld flight, flying low in the valley and a fighter jet (other sources stated a Mirage 2K) was monitoring or searching for it.

Notice that if the plane was diving they might have noticed this. they were surprised to see a commercial flight so low and it seems they have some experience spotting commercial flights in this place ( “its trajectory, we thought he was flying from Nice rather Marseille“).

Nice and Marseille being at a roughly 90deg apart in term of trajectory (see bellow).

Notice also that we shld found traces of Cellular signal if passenger were alive.

That timing seems a bit late as the accident was 10.40 Local time.

A french airforce C-135 (Flight Radar 24 calls it FAF4012) appears to have arrived overhead just before midday local time running a North South track over the area for several hours. This may have had a fighter trail and could have confused the onlookers.

Totally agree with Cameroon’s stance, it’s either all or none at the debates, the trouble is no one will nail down the defence budget, and that is the Primary and I mean Primary responsibility of Government, the defence of the Realm.

There are way to many permutations, of what could happen.
In terms of a defence budget the scariest could be …A Minority Labour Government with 40+ SNP MPs, to get most things through then having to concede something to the SNPs anti-nuclear stance.

The biggest thing they have to sort out in addition to the display aircraft itself, is getting rid of the 2 hour break in the flying display. I know some of it was to do with aircraft displaying elsewhere and transiting but it really disrupt the event. Those on the sea front in prime positions were loathed to leave because the they wouldn’t get back, also although it can’t be helped the beautiful light in the early afternoon clouded over into tricky to an amateur photographer like me conditions by the time the “stars of the show” arrived.

Loving how simple floor coverings almost create a diorama in their own right such as pics 5 & 7 of post 2, likewise having the Otter on a slight tilt to show off it’s skis is simple yet so effective. Loving the Spitfire Diorama and the JU 52 while obviously not as straightforward a setting, is just stunning.

Really nice pics, and another place to add to the list that I’d like to visit sometime.

Back in 2010, The Canberra cockpit was open and if nimble enough, you could climb aboard, the body of the whirlwind was doorless, but couldn’t be accessed as the inside was Work In Progress, the Sea Prince was open throughout, and as others have mentioned the Vulcan cockpit was included in the very reasonable entry fee as I recall. There was also no hanging around waiting on groups either, other than the Museum person My brother and I were the only ones at the Vulcan as were give as long as we liked … the Museum person was rather taken aback that it was the second Vulcan Cockpit we had visited (East Fortune several years earlier) and had done the Valiant cockpit section the month previously at Inverness.

Again, I think it could present a problem in the future, and the risk of the museum being ‘Concorde and some lesser aircraft’ is something to consider.

I’ve posted this before in previous EF threads, but from the day that aircraft were taken off site and the rest squeezed up into the 3 remaining Hangars, It has been Concorde and other aircraft visitor attraction. Not a museum of well laid out, nicely grouped series of aircraft, artefacts and descriptions that lead you around the whole site.

I’m sure the big buzz about having a Concorde did wonders for the numbers through the doors in and boosted the coffers, not least because initially they charged extra for a walk through.

The pictures of the old diaoramas brought back memories of what East Fortune used to be like.

I can’t find the thread I posted this on, but I was told earlier this year that parts of the beaufighter were being shipped out over the winter to other museum workshops… Duxford was one. Don’t know how true it is.

This is the Navy Warship of the Future

It looks more like a type used for special forces operations, Low Observables for insertion, and capable of being armed for hot extractions.

For sea presence missions like patrolling “straits” or anti-piracy you want to be seen and deter.

Look on amazon, there are a number of “me and my body” type books that will when the time comes help to make the discussion easier.

The Northolt event is a great idea….as long as it doesn’t starve other airshows that are taking place on the same weekend of the chance to book aircraft. Especially those at the opposite end of the country like the Ayr/Prestwick or Port Rush shows that are scheduled.

Last remaining mk 4. It would fill a gap in the East fortune Collection, but I doubt they would have the money.

I don’t that East Fortune have the space either.
