WRT EBAY.de -Ask them nicely if they can ship to your country. So far they have always said yes to me…
Thanks Howard – he says he has found modern replica parts but the quality is lousy…
Sorry to Bump the thread – but the Aston has to be ready for Goodwood in a month.
If there are not spare catches available – does anyone have any spare panels from Meteor, Hunter, Bucc etc.that have these catches on them – that may be available ?
I am happy to put anyone in direct contact with the needy restorer.
Thanks
Thank you chaps – I have let the searcher know.
Any idea who has any for sale ?
Whats the problem – pop rivets!
Clock for H16
Tony – bizarrely I have just acquired a working US Navy aircraft clock – that according to the advert was used on an H16 (and others)…
It is the back up sight for a refi 2 and 3 gunsight.
Playing around with the image on photoshop I can see a lady with a beehive ( different shade face and hair) The face also has a define it mouth and two eyes. So I would definitely propose a lady ( just not a pretty one!).
Oh well – he designed some nice aircraft even if he couldn’t spell his name properly.
Apologies to all.
Mods – can you change the spelling in the thread title please ?
Any more detail on the content rather than my dodgy spelling ?
Interesting use of capital letters!
This is what I found
These dummies contained no explosives, and the empty steel casings were filled with concrete, with stories of some having been made of wood, constructed and filled with wood, sawdust, and glue by CE Morris Furniture of Glasgow
Thank you Peter.
Sorry for the late reply – I have been in Asia on business.
The larger piece – top right – I have an identical piece which I purchased from John Manning several years ago from the Dutch Lancaster recovery. It was thought to be from the wing.
My piece is stamped 9R2060 ; BK ; KB and an inspectors stamp of SMTE and 38 in a circle.
I use it daily as my pocket change keeper.
I have compared the nose art from one of the original wartime photos (the nose section on the ground) – with the Scampton and the Hendon repaints of the nose art. I have photoshopped them all to a side view and overlaid them.
They are close – but both of them were hand painted versions of the original artwork and are not in the correct place/bomb angle etc.
The current Hendon artwork is the least original. But I guess they did not have the capabilities/needs or desires to 100% accurately represent it c.f. looking like it should do.
Besides the aircraft spent most of its operational life with a nude/bomb on it.. Not forgetting the gremlin before it.
Thanks Elliott.
The US stamp guide suggests B with an A is B-29 and that the H is F4 – hence my confusion…
So the 100+ Albemarle GT MkV1 S2’s were built – stored and scrapped without ever being used ?
