You guys have misread the article.. it says it’s going to send A-10’s MANNED by Apaches

it makes sense since you can double up on them and use them as guerilla fighters too 😎

And third reason is that China is not intrested in foreign parts so if Paf wants the plane then they can add this engine later but outside China.

Which is why China is using the indigenous RD-93.. [/sarcasm]

    THanks, F-18 Hamburger.

That was exactly what I thought but a certain person at CMF said the M88 contains US technology or parts and US permission is need to export the M88. I search quite hard on the web but I couldn’t find any to support such claims. Thanks.

I don’t think so, plus many posters on CMF aren’t too credible. I lurk but i will say that you are a logical and sensible CMFer in a sea of over nationalistic children.

    A question to the experts:

Is the M88 entirely french developed or it contains US technology that the export of which requires US permission?
    Thanks in advance.

I believe entirely French. I really think the FC-1 or the LCA should’ve been powered by this engine

“meh, other than the large numerical code and minor changes in insignia placement, it still uses the same scheme as the Swedish aircraft.. how disappointing”

Burger my friend, I believe that you’ll see more of this lovely vanilla-Gripen style colour scheme since I reckon reading that the hungarians actually changed the colorscheme on their Mig-29’s to something similar as well… :diablo:

but the Hungarian one is kinda blue-ish, and also it actually looks cool (since it’s uncommon) :dev2:

The most impressive pic i say was the Ka-31 cockpit. Some one should shoot the modeller of that Su-30MKI w/ 3 Brahmos, looks horridly inaccurate.

upon first glance it looks just like the MiG-15.. upon first glance that is.

I would like to be Jengiz Khan (I guess you Americans call him Genghis Khan) so that I may vanquish you, rob you of your wealth, see those dear to you bathed in tears and clasp the bosom of your wives and daughters. Not necessarily in that order.

what about the F-CK-1? its kinda like what the A50 fighter verson would be like. plus its operational already.

the only down side is that apparently its engines are not that responsive or powerful.

I have my doubts on the F-CK-1, the downside of it’s lack of response and thrust is a pretty big downside in terms of flexibility in use as an interceptor, although I reckon it’d be a nice dog modern dog fighter and better in other things. If FAS’s stats are reliable, it seems to be a good value too.

but for point defense.. how about the JA37D upgrade.. it has a turbojet engine, good for fast response and it does seem to have good acceleration and good speed. Furthermore the upgrade gives it the Gripen’s networking/data linking abilities. I just don’t know if it will fit the role of being cheap and expendable like the MiG-21 and F-104

The aircraft i would love to see in this role is an upgraded F-104 with a ZELL boost pack, IR dome and the necessary network systems. Of course the J79 will remain, not only because it sounds really cool but even more so because it will suit the slash-attack role perfectly. With only a short range necessary, the airframe can stay devoid of draggy and heavy fuel tanks so the interceptor will have all the energy it needs to keep fighting on it’s own terms. Other suitable airframes would be the Mirage III, Lightning or Su-15, although you really don’t need the latter’s range or endurance. Every second your PDI is in the air NOT slashing intruding aircraft in the PDI’s envelope, is a second in which your PDI is a target for the enemy – so range is something you have no need for.

I guess the closest thing now is the MiG-21 and variants.. since it’s variants at least are still being produced and upgraded.. give it some Gripen style networking (perhaps spend a little more to give it a proper nose and side intakes).. a cheap, fast and expendable point defense fighter.
