I don’t think there were any casualties with the Lybian Blinder-raid on N’Djamena. As far as i know, the LARAF Tu-22 dropped three bombs. One hit the runway, one hit a taxiway and the third ended up on the (empty) apron.

I thought the Congo machines are part of the N’Djamena deployment? There is a bit of flying around inside Africa with those aircraft as well.

Well, i think the people in Little Egg Harbor can be happy they were only hit by gunfire from that Lawndart, and not the whole Lawndart itself :diablo:

I must say I’m surprised to hear you make those remarks, but they are respectable.

We will never agree on politics (and that’s okay I think), but I must say it’s refreshing to hear someone who’s so different from myself say reasonable things like that.

Well, here’s the bit you won’t like… what in my eyes the US has gotten into with re-electing Bush after having seen in the last four years that the “Compassionate Conservatism” was extremely lacking in the compassion department.
– A total disregard for the US’ budget and trade deficits. Appearantly, Joe Sixpack prefers to have a large taxcut for his (former) employer rather than a a balanced budget. I know i’ll be looking forward to the day when i can get two dollars for one euro – and it’ll be during the reign of Bush II.
– A fixation to certain amendments of the Constitution (most notably the second), while ignoring parts of the Declaration of Independence (equality, pursuing happiness, stuff like that).
– A farewell to the separation between church and state. I don’t mind if a country is led by a religious person, but i do if a country is led by religion. I’m thinking that the US under Bush is leaning towards the latter more than the former.
– An almost trotski’ite, messianistic attitude to export the US government’s worldview with no room for debate or even criticism. Interestingly enough, this agressive international approach is based on the Republican electorate which is by definition (just look at where the Democrat strongholds are) far LESS involved with other nations than the Democrat constituency. Basing a foreign policy on neoconservative maniphestos and late-19th century Bible-interpretations to me shows that this government is not taking the role of the US on the international arena seriously.

Do i think the election of Bush is a bad thing for the world? Yes. I’m not sure if things were better if Kerry had been elected (as i said a week ago, cleaning up the mess created by the Bush administration would have been a very hard and probably impalatable job for any other administration), but at least i would have preferred the attitude it would have happened with.

So it’s 1973, and people are buying F-16s, Mirage 2000s, L 39ZAs, Tu-26B’s (whatever those might be, but i guess some sort of Backfire), An-72s, F/A-18s… perhaps some in-service or first-flight dates should be checked first.
