    Maybe they don’t look rocket’ish to you, but those are the ignition bursts of 57mm rockets. There is plenty of imagery and footage around of 57mm rocket launches by aircraft (i think even some of IAF Su-7s), they have a large burst of flames when leaving the pod.

    Does anyone actually know when the last 60sqn Pembrokes were actually retired? One day they were still doing endless circuits at Wildenrath, but not too long before the base closed all left with the 60th were the Andovers flying over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

    Trap being set eh? Well I take the bait- Rafale and the F/A-22 all the rest dont come close. 😉

    No, not a trap – unless when you would have come up with the F-16, of course :diablo: I don’t know of too many people who actually dislike the looks of the Scooter, but then again most of the people i know like their airplanes made of metal rather than plastic 😀 (so a bit of a trap after all, but it could have been far worse).

    Actually, i agree on the Rafale.

    I just hope the big ones will defend the need to have a man in the loop; a human decision maker with a moral and ethical foundation. There`s little doubt that UCAVs have come to stay, the question is whether they will ever replace human pilots (including “sofa” pilots) completely with more or less independent AI units? Afterall, the issue we`re dealing with has to do with taking lives. You wouldn`t allow a machine to make independent decisions and carry out actions which may cause so many human casualties.

    Not until Skynet takes over :diablo:

    R-77-3PK or R-77-ZRK? I could think of some words to go with the latter acronym (Zenitniye Raketniy Kompleks or something of that stretch) 😉 …

    Now the Phantom is definately some sort of acquiered taste, but the Skyhawk definately is a pretty machine. The early non-ulcered A4D’s were probably the best proportioned aircraft to be found aboard US carriers at that time until the A3J appeared.

    Since when is that Egypt-1 like colourscheme worn by Luftwaffe Phantoms like 37+17? I don’t recall noticing it before, but that could be just me of course.

    You’re not the only one looking for a photo of that one… it was a 17sqn Jag from RAFG Brüggen, and was appearantly zapped by a German F-104 Geschwader during some rotation. But apart from that, i can’t be of any help…

    Perhaps the company that makes the decals has any pictures?

    Now let’s get a few buckets of paint and give them a nice splinter scheme. Either Czech-style as on MiG-21MF-N 7701, or Swedish with the Viggen-way…

    And no prizes for the person who first gives the c/n of that Gripen 😀
