    Uhh… somewhere earlier in this thread the PAF’s successes and alleged successes over it’s North-Western border throughout the 1980s were suddenly linked with it’s feats versus India.

    That’s part of the unsubtle ploy of killing the Mission Designator System. Appearantly the US no longer likes to use the most comprehensive and easy-to-use designator system, and kills it of by using dozens and dozens of new designations not fitting in.

    There is some lighting on the floor which might confuse you a little, but there are definately and unmistakably two L39s there. The rear one has it’s canopy open, the one up front doesn’t. I’ve (somewhat) drawn profiles over the pic, perhaps you can see it better now.

    Considering the JSF program was specifically set up with a (relatively) low-cost unit price of the aircraft, the whole program slowly turning into a pig should only be a shock to those who believed the original BS concerning the project.

    Add to the comparison that the German F-4F’s are in service almost a decade longer (at least the RF-4E’s were, but those aren’t included otherwise it would make the Lawndart look even worse)… On the other hand, i do think that Phantoms tend to go u/s just before takeoff more often than those ugly suckbellies.

    So you’ve just barely missed those B-17 and B-24 deployments then 😉 Ah well, i am getting ‘that look’ from younger colleagues of ours nowadays too… and then i’m just talking about Spangdahlem F-4E’s (a handful) and Dutch NF-5s…
