Thanks for the correction re the pilot. And good to know the MiG is actually properly stored (and fixed up) since the late 1990s.
Would the British economic climate be any better if the UK was overrun by the Germans in 1940?

Your sudden concern for the US taxpayers is most welcome after the US has propped up European defense for the past 65 years…
Remember off shore procurement schemes of the 50s…buying Hunters for the RAF, Belgium and the Netherlands, Mysteres for the French air force…giving away arms (which is why all the UK museums have Mysteres, T-33s and F-100s on display) to NATO air arms, providing heavy lift transport to allow NATO forces to support UN peacekeeping missions…
When the US did ell aircraft to NATO members, they came with heavy offsets, (and for the last 30 years) they only bought US aircraft only when a local candidate was not available wheras the US did buy European aircraft in the face of domestic competition (especially helicopters).
Yes. Thanks for that.
And now you buy your domestic tanker which is a bit cheaper than the foreign one, but also offers a bit less. Which is fine with us, except for the fact that this whole procurementfest lasted about as long as the service career of the KC-97. Which is rather pathetic.
EADS has been and will continue to be subsidized and it gave them a huge pricing advantage….FACT!
Exclamation marks and pretending to act like an alpha-male don’t necessarily mean you have a point. Boeing recieved plenty of subsidies as well. They were a bit more candid about it, but nevertheless…
WTO Rules Boeing Got Improper U.S. Subsidies

Best choice.
…(snip)….
EADS does not have to built a plant in the US
Which is good why?
While one might argue that the persons of Hawaii for instance might have been better off had Cook not found them…
Whereas the Aboriginese in Australia were treated gallantly by the British, just like the Zulu in South Africa (not that they were treated any better by the Boers).
I don’t know if you’re serious about your remark, but if this is your view on history it is extremely biased.
Your remark would be more historically accurate if you’d say that “Has anyone ever noticed that the places ethnically cleansed with the indigenous population being moved to the fringes of society by the British are, while not without fault, mostly wealthy and first world, among the nicer places to live?”

Kind of reminds me of an incident during the Yugo civil war when a Serbian Orao with full armament made a low sniffer over Wienna…
A bit of a distorted memory there. It was a Yugoslav MiG-21 flown by a Slovenian pilot, and it landed at Klagenfurt. I think the aircraft ended up at some Austrian gunnery range.
Question: I haven’t been paying close attention to the new Hornets (and it’s over a decade since I wrote my last antenna-counting subvariant-recognition guide for any type), but are the Growler’s wing pylons still misaligned with the centerline as on the E/F?
The MH-53 is gone from the USAF inventory. Last MH-53M left Mildenhall in 2007.
Fact is that censorship did happend for reasons i have no problems understanding.
Now, reading what you write, you obviously take it personally if a B-2 got hit over Yugoslavia. It is like you spent the whole time since the cold war in the trenches. You need to start taking happy pills. Get a grip. It is only a aeroplane, not the end of the world.
Never try to pull me down to your level again.
Pegon, please back up your claims. I remember spending most of April 1999 either as a student in a newsroom, or watching F-117s at Spangdahlem or lots of other stuff at Aviano. Tell me, what did I miss?
And i don’t mean vague assumptions. So unless Aftenbladet accidentally had a correspondent at some Greek airbase, I’m guessing the ‘news report’ you’re referring to comes from one of the news cables. A news cable I appearantly didn’t have acces to at the time (which isn’t all that likely, to be honest)…
In case you’re wondering: Jamie Shea’s agitprop-conferences from NATO HQ didn’t do it for me either.
You here ignore the fact that a f-117/B-2, made a emergency landing in Greece.
Fact? What fact?
What airbase, what serial number, date, time, and preferably a copy of the log as well…
Talking of GREAT Britain, I was saddened today to read that we’ve lost more men and women in Afghanistan than the rest of the EU countries added together – 356 against 298.
What does that say about this country ?
I did use the word ‘wasteful’ in one of my previous posts in this thread.
I fail to see the connection between greatness and the number of soldiers you get killed in any sorts of ‘look-at-us-we’re-significant’-campaign. Although every year around November the UK does seem to take some sort of national pride over the number of young men it sent out to get snuffed in Flemish mud.
