The hardest part, whoever wants them, is establishing who is the person/company that owns them. The airport don’t respond to any messages, and the original owner seems to have washed his hands of them.
As to where they go… breaking them down and getting them on a ship is going to be hard work whether it’s going too the UK or Malta… so I don’t see Malta as automatically being a sensible place for them to go.
Given my choice, I’d see one on display at the airport, get one as a gate guard at one of the RAF bases on Cyprus, and ship the Dodo and the spares home.
One of my ex’s took a kids Fisher Price Go Kart thing through a drive through… so driving strange things just for the giggle of it isn’t just confined to you! 😀
I’ve been practising my “Afrika Corps” look using the sunroof of my brothers Rover SD1. Its fun entering show grounds sat on top as the marshalls never know whether to speak to the person sat on the roof, or the driver…
The SD1 is next in line for a crazy engine transplant, we’re putting a Toyata Supra 3 litre turbo engine in it.
After that, one of my 1977 XJ6 is getting a later Jag supercharged 4 litre engine in it.
All good fun!

Sorry… its just that after all the V8’s V6’s and a Kubel kit, I wouldn’t have had the guts to admit to ONE C5…let alone two. Did you really need another one to be sure?
Please tell me one of them had a bike engine stuffed in it for a giggle..

I’m a petrolhead!
Bought a knackered Jaguar XJ when I was 22, and I’ve had seventeen of ’em since. All shapes and sizes, V12s, straight sixes, 4 door and coupe.I had a couple of XJS at one point one got stolen, one I still have.
Stuff I have built includes a couple of fast road minis, a Lenham bodied Austin Healey Sprite, and a rather nice Rover V8 conversion into an MGB.
This weekend I’ve been stuffing a manual gearbox back into my XJ6 as she’s got to take me to Le Mans in July.

As far as I know there was a court case due to unpaid parking fees, and they are now the property of the airport.
I’m still trying to contact the people at the airport but they aren’t replying. I’ve got a few other options left to use yet though, so I’ll keep trying for the moment.
I think somebody has access to them as I’ve seen pics with various hatches open, then a week later another picture will appear and they are buttoned up again.

Ric
It’s been often said that minute variances in how aircraft are put together can make them good or bad to handle; it seems to have some truth.
Possibly WG555 was a fortunate aircraft where everything added up the right way to make a good ‘un!

Rich
Ben, I think Blue_2 went looking for the Morse Key!
Mo,
Any chance of telling why WG555 was the fastest?

Fingers crossed that it turns out to be a great day. I’m going to miss the opening, but if what we saw when the Nimrod was just a taster, then Airbase has a bright future ahead of it.
Tina’s probably scared of heights now…
Sounds awesome. I’m definitely going to have to come up and have a nosy round YAM at some point!
I’ve been e-mailing anybody at the airport who’ll listen, with little success. I even tried the parent companies that own the airport, still no luck.
A big shame those two… not to mention the procedures trainer (the Dodo) and the spares package (including Griffons) that’s on the fire dump at the same site.
