“In a field at Retallick, during a ‘Mother and baby event'”………

I never knew that was a place.. but a bloke I used to work with had the surname Retallick! How long has this mother and baby thing been going?! 😮

I think more beerage is required next time, and less rushing around in cars!

    Good news!!

A deal has been struck which should see WR963 safe well into the distant future, and increase the Shackleton Preservation Trust’s involvement at Coventry substantially – hopefully to the mutual benefit of Classic Flight, Airbase, and the SPT.

There will be an official statement forthcoming, more news tomorrow evening!

    Kind Regards,

    Rich

    Update time.

Not much was achieved this bank holiday weekend due to the brilliant “Imagineering” event held at Airbase over three days. It was great to see so many kids getting hands on, Imagineering being set up to introduce 8 – 16 year olds to the world of engineering. It was also great for me, as a self confessed big kid… 😀

Happily, the servicing is more or less complete so we’ll be back to ground running in the next couple of weeks. If you want to stop by we’ll be more than happy to see you!

    Dates as follows:

10 Sep – brief engine run, post servicing
15 Sep – engine run for Chiltern Aviation Society visit
17 Sep – scheduled engine run

But… I now have to relay a little bad news.

Its looking as though our mainwheel change may have to wait a while. There’s not too many places where we can jack a Shackleton at Airbase, without getting in the way of day to day operations. With this, and the length of time its taking to get our prop sorted, the aim of fast taxying WR963 is going to have to be delayed. Sorry to all that were hoping to see it happen this season.

    Regards,

    Rich

Maybe you weren’t sucessful, or you didn’t live long enough to see it happen.
