I thought that India had procured the Trenton more as a humanitarian asset for post Tsunami type scenarios rather than as a true combat vessel?

If you haven’t noticed, my position is based on a caveat. There is no need for me to show proof of whether the 054A has a radar output integrator on board or not, since I have declared that I don’t know. The thing is, if one doesn’t know, one cannot establish a firm position as tphuang did, that the 054A is better than the OHP in low-E target detection/tracking. Since he did, it is incumbent on him to prove that radar output integration exists in the 054A. Unfortunately, he has not done so, and probably will not be able to do so.

As for my position that the OHP is better than the 054A in low-E target detection, should the 054A not have radar output integration, I have already explained it before in my earlier posts. Datafuser has also added more info. His post should be a pretty clear illustration of how radar output integration should not be confused with radar integration under a combat system.

Sorry but you have no proof and neither does anybody else in this thread so it is all realy rather pointless.

Despite tphuang and Pinko’s insistence, they have yet to provide any evidence backing their claims. 😀

You have not provided any for yours either so I do not know why your boasting.

Well, I think it would better if what comes out next were new SSN/SSBN rather than Ships or A/C carriers. That off-course would mean we will be having a major drought in terms of picture. But, IMHO more newer SSN/SSBN/SSK would be the best thing for the PLAN. I mean, did you recently read some of the info on the HMS Astute? 😮

Based on what I have been reading the PLAN has been building new SSN’s/SSBN’s whilst they have been getting the new surface combatants. Based on available evidence it seems like the PLAN’s procurement process is very balanced.

Thanks for posting Hyper, these are very clean looking ships, far more so than even the original 054’s. I suppose the search is now on for what will come out of Chinese shipyards next?

I have to agree with Unicorn on this, we have no idea what the final configuration will be for the Australian vessels. The other problem is that the T45 is a serious victim of the ‘fitted for but not with’ mantra- something which greatly confuses the issue.

My reading if it is what killed Horizon was the French insistence on Project leadership and a workshare far in excess of what the 2 possibly 4 ships it said it would build would justify.

Considering at the time the UK was looking for 12, France expecting at least an equal share of the project was taking the **** to say the least – they did however lumber the Type 45 with Aster and Sylver when the RN would have prefered Standard and Mk41.

That pretty much covers it, basically the french wanted 50% work share when France and Italy combined were at best procuring half the number of ships the RN was. I was under the impression that at the time the RN preferred PAAMs over Aegis/Mk-41. In hindsight the latter might have been preferable considering tactom and SM-3.

No we cannot, but what we see already from the outside is enough to determine that the ship is clearly related to OPH. But I think this is one of the “taste” isssues so I think its pointless to argue it further, don’t you think?

Once again, we can not see the internals, we ca not see below the water line, the pictures are conjecture and their creator said he tried to keep them as close to the OHP as possible- ie, they are his interpretation.

The Lords are the movers and shakers of the UK. They are mostly born into money and their place within. When their kin decided to move to submarines it was a done deal.

I suggest you go and research the modern poiltical structure of the UK, you are grossly uninformed.

…or that I see what I want and you dont;) Anyway, my eye always tryes to look the ship as whole from the first clance and start lookin similarities to previously seen vessels. In this case the funnel and bow as well as rear superstructures are so obviously from OPH, It makes me wonder why someone wonder why that is OPH related…becouse she so clearly is!

I suggest you re-read the above posts.

Pictures are conjecture and interpretation, we can not see any of the internals or below the water line.

Vulcan was an enigma to the house of Lords. It represented the height of the cold war. By that time NATO was pushing for a nuclear deterrent based on intermediate range missiles and standoff cruise missiles, which were not a part of the Vulcan plan form. The UK moved to dependence on the submarine force. Perhaps if Vulcan had assumed cruise missiles it would of survived.

It did move to cruise missiles, it was called the Blue Steel. The reason it did not survive was becouse it was reaching the end of its life and was eating resources at a massive rate. Any viable replacement would have been prohibitively expensive for the UK. The bit about the house of Lords does not even make sense.

The US is not whom Europe has to worry. A new cold war with a revitalized Russia sitting three days from the Atlantic coast and the entire nato military base outside of the U.S. sitting in a few known positions is the worry. Russia could concievable make an end run with concentrated forces across Europe today unlike during the cold war.

The sad reality of ucav technology is that its very slow to react in a dynamic situation. The only real benefit for ucav is keeping humans out of harms way. But when it comes to war you sometimes have to build on sacrifice and people willing to die for the greater cause, which ucav will not understand this concept. If Europe is setting all its future efforts on ucav then they are in for real trouble.

Russia is not a military worry for Europe, for all their posturing they are militarily weak and any effort to move across Europe with conventional forces would quickly be ended.

There is no reason why UCAVs can not ultimately be made into viable fighters as well as attack aircraft.

???     ???
The relevance to OPH in certain key shipbuilding areas such as hull form and placing of porpulsion is the ones that makes it easy to spot as a cousin to OPH. Superstructures can change dramatically, but that that doesent alone make a ship, almoust quite contrary.
Martin’s drawing takes some liberties IMO, but in the “conjectural drawing” the relevance almoust hits you in the eye

Seeing as we cant see below the waterline or any of the internals and these pictures are conjecture I think that is pushing it a bit.
