If I realy was Iran and my only interest was self-defence, I would invest all I could in S-400, S-300VM, Pantsir, Mig-31BM, and the most advanced Su-30 derivative I could get my hands on. Combined with long range anti-ship missiles, GLCM’s, and ballistic missiles (conventional warheads) to launch strikes against US ships and bases in theatre. At the same time subtly keeping the Iraqi insurgency going to keep US ground forces occupied.

Of course If I was the US I would then just enforce an embargo until Iran ran out of spares and money then wander in in twenty years time when the economy is in ruins.

The moral of the story is dont mess with the biggest monkey in the jungle.

The IRGC operate a small number of Su-25, I belive that they are also responsible for the F-7’s.

I am a little sceptical about this report becouse it gives the wrong start date for fulcrum production, I wonder whether it is an earlier mig variant?

In the webmasters last post in this thread he uses the phrase ‘sensitive nature’ which rather makes me wonder whether a state organisation has become concerned about some of the information being posted, just an idea, but the famed Russian navy thread was extremely detailed as were a number of others.

Has the webmaster explained fully his position to anybody? The reason given, wanting to focus on aviation issues, seems somewhat odd and inadequate since the sub forums have been up and running for some time.
Were there technical issues or something eles? Is it beyond hope the the sub forums will be returned?

Wow, I knew people would feel strongly about this but I must admit that I am surprised at the strength of the reaction.
This is a very sad day indeed, one of the central points for military discussion has been left near impotent by this decision. It is a terrible shame that so much high quality discussion has been lost and is being prevented.
I plead to the webmaster to reintroduce the forums.

The J-7III sacrifice the primary virtue of the basic J-7, its agility in order to provide slightly better avionics, but it couldnt compete with the J-8 and is quite probably inferior to the J-7G.

Considering how PLAN shipbuilding has been going lately I would not be surprised if this is the 054A but I have seen so many pictures of tankers cruise ships and other civlian vessels labeled as PLAN boats whilst under construction that I will reserve my judgement until we get more pictures and a super structure starts to emerge.

Purely my personal opinion, but it appears that chinas only major terrotorial claim is Taiwan, let tham have it, I realy dont see the point in risking hundreds of millions of people dying to save one Island.
