Its not about need and its not smoke and mirrors, the simple fact is that under international law, in this case derived from the NNPT Iran is perfectly entitled to develop civilian Nuclear technology. The fact of the law is that unless Iran makes a Bomb it has not broken any law.
Whether it is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ for Iran to develop Nuclear power is of course up for debate but at the moment it is perfectly legal.

A minor point. Technocally Iran has not done anything illegal, in fact it is Irans right under the Nuclear non-proliferation treaty to enrich Uranium as long as it does not use it for military purposes. This is more of an issue of the west enforcing its will, as well as genuine concern over the possibility of Iran making a bomb, but until it actually does make a bomb it has not done anything illegal.

I was under the impression that the RN had decided not to deploy the Aster-15 just the 30. The T-45 can easily be upgraded to carry 72 VLS cells for ASTERS if need be.
Steve seems to have a deep personal loathing for the T-45 yet all he has to say is that it cant carry 2 helos but he cant provide any evidence that shows that the desighn could easily take 2 helos.

This article says that Mig has managed to give the Mig-35 an airframe life of 6000 hours. It also says that the BAR’s-29 is to be offered, although this is looking increasingly unlikely in my opinion.

I think the Mig-35 would be the best option for the IAF by a long way. It looks as if Russia is willing to offer the highest level of Ofset and customization. The Mig itself already boasts 3D TVC, an airframe life of 6000hrs and probably an AESA radar as well.

Western papers have a duty to post such cartoons, all religion needs to be scrutinized and shown how truly flawed it is. The majority of the people who are complaining about these cartoons are the same scum who spew anti-western hate on a regular basis.

But they dont say anything about the Rafale, I think the french know the Mirage dosnt stand a chance against the competition so they are going to concentrate on the rafale.

Russias economy has maintained growth between 5 and 7% since 1998 and most analysts think this will increase. Unfortunately the myth of a bankrupt wasteland on the brink of anarchy is still perpetuated by the ignorant and uninformed.

Those stealthy rolling shutters massively reduce the ships radar signature and are becoming increasingly standard on new build western warships, and they dont cost that much.
I very much doubt that if you removed the RHIB’s you would be able to carry 2 helos anyway.

The government hasnt funded service ship LACM’s yet and isnt likely to in the near future but if they do the T-45 can be fitted with at least 24 extra VLS cells, either Sylver-70 or stike length Mk-41’s so its rather a mute point.
The RHIB’s are very usefull, they save lives if there is a man over board scenario, and give a light boat facility for other activitys. The location of the boat houses allows for rapid deployment in case of emergency (I believe there are leagal requirements for this). The only thing the T-45 is mediocre at and that cant be easily rectified in the future is ASW and the RN has the excellent upgraded Type-23’s for that.
Im sure the RN would have loved a 12,000 tone multirold 128 VLS cell cruiser but the money simply wasnt there, so as it is the RN will have to settle for what is probably the most advanced warship in the world with phenominal upgrade potential.

These ships are a quantum leap for the RN, and although everything SteveO has mentioned would be nice, it would probably have gotten the ships cancelled.

Its easily the most powerfull DDG in Europe and is likely to remain so for a very long time, people who criticise the armament are either expecting to much or just plane uninformed. Just compare these ships to what they are replacing.

Or maybe the Japanese werent looking for it, submarine hunting is a very precise science, and extremely difficult.
