So according to Hurrifan we should not be allowed to criticise ideologies in case we offend the people who believe in them? The Nazis would certainly be offended by most of what is said about them today, should we stop incasewe hurt their feelings? We have every right to criticise and mock Islam, just as we do all other ideologies and many individuals. If people get up set by that they have to live with it, it is one of the responsibilities of living in a free society.
.
You can not have free speech without causing offence……….period.
I think you will find that most American Muslims are far happier than Muslims in the UK.;)

Neither do you.
I have already provided a source, Pavel Podvig, Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces Now stop lying.
Sources claim 150 with 90 in reserve.
What else do you want?

And just how many carriers and bodies is the US willing to sacrifice to invade Russia, wet dreams aside?
With only 45 in naval aviation. And that is ignoring the obvious issues of maintenance and availability.
Fair point, though I suspect that weight would be the main issue – the 30mm Bushmasters are very lightweight, very basic mounts, where a CIWS needs more robust infrastructure. It would be possible for a new ship to simply be built to accomodate more of a cheap CIWS, giving proper coverage. If you could do a straightforward mini-turret, using a couple of 40mm CTA guns, using offboard sensors (a la Millenium Gun), then it might be cheap enough. A better option might be to simply build the new generation CIWS around the new ammunition, and then simply use Bushmasters in the same calibre.
Back onto the C-1/2 issue, a thought crosses my mind – for the Type 23 upgrade, why has the CEAFAR not been considered? It would seem to make for an ideal complement to the Type 45’s capabilities, and is supposedly quite affordable. It might be possible, therefore, to build the new C-1/2s around the CEAFAR, giving them more than enough self-defence AAW capability, without sacrificing their primary roles. Put it on a new basic hullform, somewhat stealthy (a la Formidable/LaFayette), and we have C-1/2 basically sorted. The hull would have all the relevant spaces, allowing fitment of VDS, MCM gear, and anything else that may be needed. The C-3 could, potentially be built using a stripped down version of the same hull, i.e. space for x, y, and z. The basic design would be c.5,000 tons displacement, though a bit less for the C-3, due to less equipment on board (notably no VLS cells installed, but a space left). Due to IEP, it might even be possible to use a common propulsion system, just with less installed power on the C-3 (e.g. fewer diesels installed).
To be honest I think that just bringing all the surviving Type-23’s up to the same standards as Sutherland would be sufficient,

I would certainly agree though that CEAFAR might be worth a closer look, it seems to be a system with a lot of potential.
On the CIWS issue, it seems to me that having both the Bushmaster and the Phalanx is rather excessive and that in the long term they may be some benefits in pursuing a system that can fulfill both roles.
USN carrier air wings really have suffered post cold war, alot of the ASW capability has gone and they are now left with Hornets. If any service (post Cold War) should have had a Raptor it should have been the USN. A-12 got canned too. One only hopes they get the best out of JSF and continue to forge ahead with UCAV’s.
Just a word of thanks to who ever got russis recent statements the T.V. Air time they had. Now all we have to do is hope someone in the world beyond these forums listened and took note. For the programmes mentioned in these postings to become reality people have to be made to understand the consequences of losing our current and future naval power.
Keep up the good work. Down with internal and external Dane Geld, up with money spent on strength.
Do you mean RUSI, Royal United Services Institute?
BTW, cheers ED, I wonder if BAe could do a CIWS mount along similar lines to the Millenium Ahead turret, maybe make it so they could replace both the Phalanx and the Bushmaster with a single weapon?
Just a quick question really, could the 40mm CTA gun being looked at for Warrior have any utility for naval purposes?
lol i shoulda mentioned its from wiki 😮 but but but before people kick me in for that i must stress i actually looked at the sources they took the info from to make sure i wasn’t being hoodwinked by wiki, feel free to mock me though wiki is the lazy mans route but when the sources are listed, i’ll link the whole page so you can go over it yourself and its sources http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Chinese_anti-satellite_missile_test
Dude its all good if you back checked the sources used in wiki, its people like dionis who find a decade old page and then declare it speaks the absolute truth and is 100% up to date without checking the citations who should not be allowed to post here.
There are enough Backfires in service to make sure supplies are targeted too.
You have yet to actually tell us how many backfires and Kh-22’s are really available and not just what you wet dream about.
My evidence is you have no evidence on me claiming something about Bear-Gs being in full active service. Can you get that around your head? Clearly not. Did you graduate out of high school? Just wondering.
Also, do you have anything to prove the Russians can’t get their Kh-55s modded out for anti ship role by using the Kh-65 seekers on short notice? Or that the Kh-41 is an impossiblity. I didn’t think so.
So you still have no actual sources and evidence.
The western media is biased and the laws are full of hypocrasy, let me again give you a quick list of contradictions refute them if you can:
1) If you deny the holocaust or question the full historical account you go to jail for a very long time. Where is the free speach in that?,
2)The Iranians produced some distasteful pictures about the holocaust if European press is so upbeat about free speach why did they not show them?.
3) Two years ago the Catholic church won a court injunction to ban a fashion ad based on the Last Supper. The judge said the ad was “a gratuitous … act of intrusion on people’s innermost beliefs.” Why did the law rule in favour of religion?
4) In sweden a clergyman told his congregation that homosexuality was a “deep cancer tumour” on society. He was soon after rushed to the court. Hes conviction was overturned by swedish courts they ruled that his comments were protected by free speech laws. the clergyman said “I wanted to spark a debate and I’ve done that” the same thing the newspapers say about the cartoons today. again Why did the law rule in favour of religion?
5) Lastest news these days about 5 muslim guys were jails for downloading, viewing and sharing extremist propaganda, where is the freedom in speach in that. They have now been released as no connections to any terrorism was linked to them, they were jailed because of curiosity.
6) A muslim woman was given a suspended sentence for writing poetry glorifying terrorism/violence.
7) In the US several states have restricted funeral protests from anti-gay christian protesters who have said the soldiers killed in recent conflicts such as in Iraq died because they were gay. The states gives “a constitutional right to state their opinion” but have curbed these nevertheless.
8) The spanish royal family intervened and had sex cartoons of them removed from publications, what happened to freedom to express there.
if the above examples arnt good enough for you Il get anothr 8 if you really want to compare the hyporasy. Muslim countries never have championed supporting freedom to express, the west has.
Yawn……….stop ranting about how evil the west is and admit that large tracts of Islam is violent, barbaric and oppressive.

hhmm i’m no expert in orbital mechanics i will admit, however the altitude of the Sat the yanks plan to shoot down will be so low when its just about to re-enter that nothing uses that ‘area of space’ for want of a better term, so the debris is just going round the earth essentially harmlessly before eventually burning up. Now the shootdown of a Sat by the Chinese was some 800km from what i remember in the same orbital plane as that used by other Sats. i’m gonna go look into this some more to try and find more info on it all (read as i’m going to try an educate myself on this lol) . So i might be back telling you all what i said is rubbish, wouldn’t suprise me if it was 😉 Edit: 2317 pieces of the remains of the Chinese sat shown orbiting the earth in this image. It reportadly took the Chinese three attempts too to hit it. And it was 865km up.it increased the amount of orbital debris by 22%, not good.
