Many thanks. Is that the Dornier that does the schedule to the IOM?
Nice shots with a “different” take on the action with the crew-man doing the refuelling. But what about the light aircraft? Any offers? We’re not all military mad are we?
I’m slightly confused (nothing different there then) but I thought TFC were struggling to find the right mark of Hercules engine for the Beaufighter? Apparently the available engines need some rework to the oil tank to meet the requirement. I only ask as, on a recent visit to Enstone, one of the engines for the ill-fated Bristol Freighter that had the accident there is sitting in the hangar on a sling. I bet it would have gone it could have been fitted to the Beaufighter.
There used to be a Rapide in the main terminal at Frankfurt. Still there?
Contrailjj, your a/c at Auckland was Jean Batten’s Gull and was still there (iinstead of Old Warden!!) in March this year.
An astonishing link. Many thanks Peter.
Watch out, Feather No 3 will be along shortly with his mates from HARS to collect it as a spare for their Connie.
Or vice versa.
But isn’t the point that we have two shows in the same general area on the same day. Surely the two organising teams could get together and de-conflict their show dates. It’s asking a bit much of even the diehard fans to do Sywell, Little Gransden, OW twice and Duxford twice in 6 weekends.
I see, I think.
What was?
Don’t quote me but there was one of the pair in Hangar 2 North yesterday.
Nice shots and it is good to see the Speedtwin back in action. It was originally developed by the late Peter Philips to be a kit-built light 2-seat sporting twin back in the days of cheap fuel. The original had 2 100hp Continentals (I think) but this one is supposed to have Walter Mikrons (?). A note for the anoraks, the Speedtwin is based on the Victa Airtourer wing.
Not really much help but I rememeber a “Flight” photograph of a four Meteor team being caught in front of a cloud formation that closely resembled the British Isles. The beauty of it was that the airshow was in France!!
Hangar 4 does leak and it was closed to the public during one of this “Summer’s” earlier cloudbursts. However it is 90 (?) years old so perhaps it’s not too surprising.
