RAF 100 Group Association

    Hello

I am a newbie to the group and thought I’d introduce myself. I would also like to include information contained in recent messages re 192 Squadron in our Association magazine of which I am Editor.

As Secretary/Treasurer and Founder member of RAF 100 Group Association I am passionate about aviation in all its forms, but particularly in 192 Squadron of 100 Group, based in Norfolk through WWII. My mother was due to marry a Spec/Op Vic Vinnell a few days after his mosquito, DK292, went missing, and he and his Canadian friend and pilot Jack Fisher were never found. My mother always wanted to know what happened, the truth, whatever that was, and I spent ten years tracking their journey, using official documentation, their hundreds of letters shared, diaries, and other 100 Group member accounts. It is through this research that I became founder member of the RAF 100 Group Association. My mother died just short of meeting those who knew and worked with her sweetheart. But at each Reunion in May we come together and remember, and it’s wonderful to have such a growing thriving and very warm and loving family of which I am proud and honoured to be a part.

As an author, I had published on the 60th anniversary of his death, November 2004, my mother’s wartime story together with what happened to DK292 – ‘Nina & Vic: A World War II Love Story’, Woodfield. It is the only memorial he and Jack will have.

Confound & Destroy‘ was the motto of 192 Squadron, and is the title of the magazine we produce from home and send out to 150 members worldwide.

The email address for joining our Association is –

    raf100groupassociation@googlemail.com

It is £15 per year, which gives you four quarterly magazines, a membership card as a passport into the City of Norwich Aviation Museum, home to the Association, and an open invitation to our annual May Reunion in Norfolk.

    This is a long posting.

But mention of 192 Squadron brought me here. If anyone would like to contact me for further information on this, or would like me to include their experiences, or a relatives experience in our magazine, then I will be happy to hear from you.
