Ever seen “Hang-glider face burns” up close , I have – not a pretty sight , and he only went in from the massive height of 2-3 feet.
Daz , try and have a word with John from John Maher Racing – what he doesn’t know about VW engines isn’t worth knowing – he is very friendly , informative and supplies excellent kit.
Daz , drop me a mail and I’ll come and pick you up and let you see a converted Beetle engine , it’s in the back of my car right now awaiting delivery . It’s basically an air-cooled flat four VW car engine , I’ve fitted 1834cc cylinders to it and machined the heads to take dual plugs , fitted a Vertex mag to it in place of the distributor , removed the starter motor , removed the crankshaft pulley and fitted a press fit prop hub , cut and turned the intake manifold pipes and fitted a Stromberg carb . Everything has been NDT’d , and inspected by the PFA and it has all the paperwork necessary to allow her to be used in a suitable aeroplane . As my labour is free it has cost the new owner less than £1200 . If you fancy building one yourself I have a spare set of NDT’d crankcases and a spare set of heads , you buy the rest of the stuff and I’ll work through it with you.

[B]I can’t quite see why everyone gets so het up about Hi Viz jackets. It’s a safety enhancement, not a fashion statement.
Boll*cks !!!! , you wear it ‘cos it matches the colour of your car !

Never heard any “tailgunning” mentioned ??:D

Some guy in the US built a single shot rifle for the Browning 0.5″ cartridge years ago. This monster weighed in at 85 pounds(no that is not a typing error unless the magazine got it wrong.) Anyway the guy rested across the roof of his car and when he fired it the thing kicked up to a 45 degree angle, walked him back three paces and sat him on the ground. So just think what your 14.5mm would do, I think arranging surgery to rebuild your shattered shoulder before you fire would be well advised.
Mike , I have an Mpeg of the 0.5″ shot Browning Enforcer being test fired , I’m no PC Guru and can’t post it , if you want it Email me at

and I’ll try and send it before I finish work .
