Do they have the rest of the airframe stored or has it been scrapped ??? , looks in good nick in the second photo!!
On the same line , doe’s anybody have any photos of the ex-Ferranti Dakota when she was based at Edinburgh (Turnhouse ) and ended up being burnt there ??
Neat Colt Moggy , any other close up photos of her ?? , looks like a wee beauty .Incidentally I was browsing through a Pilot mag from 1982 and there is an article about converting the Colt to a tail dragger – I’ve forgot which issue it was but it has Stephen Grey’s Blue Bearcat on the front cover .

Do something useful with my tax money please Mr Blair
My sentiments exactly Moggy , she would look great in the FAA Museum or even better with the RNHF .
Good photo’s , doe’s anybody have any close ups of the ‘planes in the background of photo 5 , is the Catalina airworthy and is that a Soko Galeb sitting to the right of it ????
Good to be back , I was having withdrawal symptoms , why would somebody bother crashing this Forum – we’re all pretty harmless folk , do they do this kind of stuff just out of pure badness??
Nice photo Andy , very atmospheric and different to the usual photos .
Get well soon Adonis , incidents like this put our petty arguments into perspective , hope your back online soon .

Good photos Merlin , I agree , she has been neglected at South Gyle , she has never been repainted / waxoyled or sealed at all , if you ask at the gate they usually let you in but escort you at all times , I have had a good look round her and she is in pretty bad shape , there is a lot of corrosion around her trailing edges and undercarriage bays , her underbelly has a few holes too . I wonder if anybody in the factory is interested in restoring her ??
Cheers Jimbo , ANY photos of the Belfast would be much appreciated , thanks.

Ahhh sorry Ian , I must apologise to any Aberdonians who thought the Channel Islanders were stealing their partners – I know Aberdeen is’nt an island ( wish it was !) but they do have a scandalous reputation for collecting sheep and wellies. 😉

Thanks for the advice Damien , I saved a few bob and the camera/lense,case and batteries should be here on Monday , I bought the EF 24-85 f/3.5-4.5USM lense , compared to other retailers I saved over £280 , that’s a beer I owe you , if your ever up visiting EF drop me a mail and I’ll buy the lunch. I read your post on another thread about people asking you all the time about what equipment you used etc , so I appreciate you taking the time out to give me advice , I know all the money in the world won’t make me a great photographer but at least now I will have a decent set -up which should last me for a good few years .
David , if your brother is selling the EF 75-300mmf/4-5.6III how much is he asking for it , it is available very cheaply (as shown by Damien) and I wouldn’t want to offend him with a ludicrous offer .
Any other hints and tips from you professionals out there will gratefully received .
Many thanks

Yes the Belfast is still at Prestwick. She remains in Heavylift colours and has frequent engine runs. I have heard from a good source that a family member of the “Polar Air Cargo” owners has bought her for work around the Pacific area. I apologise for the poor pic, this was taken last week around the 12/6 and the construction work for the new Ryan air hanger had not long started.Jimbo:D
Hi Jimbo welcome to the Forum !!, for a poor photo it’s still better than any of mine !! , do you happen to have any other photo’s of the 747’s and any of the “stored ” airframes at Prestwick ??
