Some nice pics, including our Harvard. Got any more?
The AT16 went via OFMC and others to Goodwood.
I was surprised to find out recently that RAF Odiham hosts track days.
I wondered if any of the visiting aircraft, most of which had left before us, had encountered any problems on their way home.
We left in the gap between the Edwardians and weather was fine until South of WW where it was overcast with light rain patches (which were easily avoided).
WX was brilliant all day at OW and I am told it was one of their best for a while. I certainly found it a delight and thoroughly enjoyed it as it was my first.:D
Re cancelling display slots, older aircraft are more diffcult to operate (in the air and landing), have a lot less instrument flying equipment, are not good instrument platforms even if you have them, almost all are restricted to day VFR anyway and because of aeros you can’t have lots of bits in the cockpit to help the enroute. So it is perhaps a greater challenge than people realise.
Add to that the wish not to damage a historical aircraft ( e.g. rain damage as metioned above) and manage risk whilst also dealing with the presures and responsibilities of display flying, there will be times the right decision is to cancel and whilst it causes disappointment, at least you can display another time. Unfortunately there have been times where weather has caught out transiting display aircraft with tragic consequences.
So perhaps we should treat any slot as it will happen if at all possible and treat it as a bonus if it does; they will certainly try their best to make sure it does.

If you look at the CAA website its lists maintenance organisations by approval parts e.g. M etc.
Duxford ATC stated they were closed due to weather when I called. Weather for my slot time is also poor and worse enroute. I appreciate you may have better local knowledge but I am happy to rely on official sources when it comes to flight safety.
Weather horrid today, we have srubbed flying in and Duxford currently closed. However there is a weather window around display time so fingers crossed for those still going.
That is a big loss. RIP John.
Was it the same Provost that displayed at Kemble last month?
Chris flew the the display at VFWE in this aircraft on the Saturday.
Is there a site which is accessible? I trried to register but it failed.
Oz, flying in slots run upto 13:30 and display flying 13:30 to 14:30. Vintage park open to public 12:30 to 14:30. Kemble info on 118.90.
I would guess actual last arrival slots are before 13:30 because no dsiplays will be able to take place with aircraft landing.
Janie, I have a head start so you won’t catch me!
Re radio, on the procedures sheet sent out with slot confirmation it has a heading communications which says non-radio to follow above routing.
Might be worth a call to see if your slot is a double.
Oh er Missus!!! I am late morning Sat. Do I have to watch my 6?
I might be going on the Sat, waiting to hear if a slot becomes available.
Update, the kind people there have managed to fit me in so hope to see people there.
