I remember a few years ago i was in singapore and had to get back to the US in a hurry , i got a good deal on SQ for singapore-LAX flight and took it and i was really satisfied , its a long flight that route (i usually travel through europe to US east coast) but even their economy product was very good , excellent service and i actually got some sleep.

Ours is a Consultancy company for production Line and manuf. facility setup in aerospace , automobiles etc etc . We consult most of the top automobile manuf. in india , japan , malaysia regarding their production and future production facilities . I worked in the aerospace side of the buisness since i joined it only recently to have switched to autos..

ah alright. Sounds good. The only muck up i have been through SQ is when my parents were flying with me. We had ordered one chicken dish meal for my dad, and what he got was just…..boiled chicken with some sauce. We compltained about it and got atleast 3 apology letters from SQ from catering, flight services and the Delhi office. Quite fantastic.

hmm interesting…. my trips on BA into LHR even in business have been average although now i usually take 9W to LHR on Y (thanks oil prices).

When going to Melbourne….for the past 6 years i have only taken SQ. Both business and cattle and i just cant think of taking anything else. Even last time i thought i would try the new 9W/Qantas link but didn’t do it. SQ has additional dawn flights into Delhi now… departing DEL at 8 am i think which is a good time.

may i ask where you work bring_it_on?

I guess i’ll just conviniently blame my parents.

Talking about cabin service i dont think anyone from US or Europe (feel free to correct) is providing superior services such as EK, SQ etc.

Although the service on my recent DEL-VIE on OS was good the service was efficient but average.

I think IT better look @ its buisness model if it wishes to go international and be succesfull , I think that starting out with Non-stop sectors is not going to be profitable specially with oil so high and buisness traffic dropping as a result (Either to cheaper airlines or no travel at all) . 9W has a good hub going at brussels , a very sound buisness move , they can basically grow from there and 90% of their flights to NA will be through there . They can make shanghai their smaller hub and direct flights to LAX , SFO , seatle etc from that . Good buisness sence . Non-stop flights from the subcontinent to most US cities wont be profitable until oil prices drop , biusnesses are back on its feet (Economic upturn) and we have New 787,350 jets well established in the market .

Well, true mostly. Till now most of AA’s direct Chicago services are seeing pretty good load factors. Infact every airline coming into India is seeing good load factors. The Indian traveller still does not have the luxury of choosing from a few number of flights for destinations to the US and Europe as well.

From what i see every international airline is seeing good passenger numbers from India, which is not surprising since still there are not enough flights servicing the worlds largest middle class.

and nice pictures from “the good old days”… sadly my existance wasent destined at that time. :p

I agree… but 9W is still a new player by international standards. Perhaps with more experience they will get better. The owner, Naresh Goyal is an ex-SQ man himself and uses SQ as his base model for 9W.

IT is good in service as well (except usually the food part). They are specially good in ground handling at the chaotic Indian airports. In air not too much to complain but still a long way to go to achieve 9W status.

After buying Deccan IT is definitely a big player and now both IT and 9W are eying SpiceJet. There co-existence in the international skies will be a good thing for India in general.

Kingfisher should be starting non stop flights to india , and jet allready flies through Brussels . Why the heck would any one want to fly Air india now days 😉 ….. I’ve flown to india 3 times this year , twice on LH and once on 9W and the service has been great .. Flew AI once from LHR to delhi long ago , vowed never to fly them again ……

Kingfisher will fly international only by august i believe. They first had ideas of operating their A330s on lucrative routes such as DEL-BOM but the domestic tarmac at Delhi only caters to medium aircrafts such as 737s and 320s.

Anyway IT’s crew is phenomenal, its like a beauty pagent in mid air. 😀
