I would think IT will deploy A330s on this route. Or if they plan to apply direct to SYD..maybe the A345s.

Is this instead of Indian Airlines services to Australia.. or will there be two Indian carriers on this route???

Completely different… Kingfisher now holds 46% stake in Indian loco giant Air Deccan. Practicaly saving Deccan from wrapping up its operations from big losses. Now IT will use Deccan’s 5 year experience to operate itself out of India.

I think IT ready to tap the Australian market is a very sensible idea seeing the traffic between the two countries is only going to grow.

As for the IC planned DEL-KL-MEL route, that has been postponed indeffinately till the merger between AI and IC happens on more concrete terms and till AI solves its current fleet and pilot shortages.

I think they are built on a slots basis. These slots are then offered to customers…and say if for example Air India does not meet some conditions with there agreement with Boeing the original Air India slotted 321s would look for a new customer while AI’s will get pushed back.

Reading about the 748I… i never thought it will be a viable investment for Boeing to re-draw the aircraft in such “ultra-long” specs only to feed one customers need.

Unless they can rope in more concrete customers such as maybe ANA or Cathay then that project seems somewhat viable. It is only till a point that airframe could be engineered for todays needs.

I agree that Airbus should invest well in its A350 programme, i think most airlines (except maybe EK) are not going to dwell higher orders for the A380.
