Indeed. They get to fly between JFK and Heathrow and sell seats just for that segment, where only 4 other airlines are allowed to do so. They would be foolish to not operate this route. Adding a non-stop to augment the one-stop wouldn’t be a bad idea, in my opinion. Also, what 5th freedom rights do Cathay and Kuwait have similar to this?

I agree. Granted, UA has sporadically served India in the last 10 years as part of their around the world service, but currently they are not. When they get back on their feet, perhaps they will resume the India flights.

yes i did UA from HK-DEL on UA 002 i think, in 1996.

Most Indians i know heading towards US use LH or BA. Maybe its the other way around from US.

and yes AC operates a direct service to Delhi using A343…. a 14 hr flight.

I dont think west cost directly to Mumbai is possible with a 777.

Anyway its about time US carriers tap the Indian market. I dont know what the hell they were waiting for. So many Indians go to and from USA and normally BA or LH gets most of those passengers.
