Yes, correct about the B737 ops. However, they currently have direct flight to CMB from BLR and MAA only. They plan to introduce direct flights from DEL and BOM by the new year. Based on a chat I had about three weeks ago at Jet, it seems they are in the market for B777. They had considered the A330 as well. I fly the DEL-CMB route at least once and month, and they could easily fill a 777 flight between the two cities. Hell, they could fill a 777 between MAA-CMB quite easily!

I highly doubt if operating a B777 on a 3 hour flight is anywhere near economical for 9W. Mind the competition from IC and Sri Lankan. Now, i would believe Jet in the 777 market if they are near starting ops to Singapore or Bangkok. Having 777s then would make alot of sense as they can give SQ a run for there money. SQ flights are always full on SIN-DEL and SIN-BOM sectors. I have booked my flight from MEL – DEL via SQ for 27th November and am already in waitlisting.

I think thre is a minimum operation of 5 years before an airline can fly abroad. I am not entirely sure. But even if the law exists its too difficult to get an international license.

When will Air Deccan start flying international?

Air Deccan will not fly international anywhere in the near future. They have just started operations.

9W is being thought of getting possibly some 767s if they get full rights for international operations. And who knows if they grow in intl. sector the 7e7 will fit there fleet well.
