I’ll throw my own 2 cents in here, no pun intended. So Branson offered one lousy pound, big deal? Is it a gimmick? No. Is he getting publicity from it? Probably. Does he think anyone, let alone BA, will take him seriously? Probably not. That’s just Branson. This from a man who drove a tank across the Harbour Bridge in Sydney to celebrate the start-up of Virgin Blue. He may come across as cocky at times, but so what? In today’s society it’s good for a high profile figure, and CEO of an energetic, innovative company to have some personality. Does that mean that his company and his person have any less class than British Airways? God, I hope not! As far as “insulting” and showing “more respect to the grand flying lady;” please gentlemen, are we talking about a form of transportation or Queen Elizabeth, here?
On some points…..when u said “This is Banson”…thats exactly where i put my foot down on his publicity stunts…driving a tank on Sydney bridge, doing a elepehen publicity stunt in Delhi…..maybe people like it or find it amusing…i think he himself is forgetting hes a CEO of a respected airline….not a clown.
In todays society if you say its good for high profile figure, i counter that maintaining a high profile with sofistication is much beter that going around the world and doing weired publicity gimics.
