RE: What´s flying Iran Air/Thai like?:
LAST EDITED ON 26-05-01 AT 07:03 PM (GMT)[p]Keltic, Iran Air is a flying nightmare. Not me but my dad has gone with them and man did he return with banging his head. Cold food served, onboard entertainment system not working. An old 747SP. Cramped. I would rather like to travel in a bulokcart than in Iran Air. Thai is quite OK, i travelled with them, they r average. But i dunno my dad travelled back in 1995, so if they have improved?
RE: Monoply in Engines
Thank you for correcting me Bhoy:)
RE: Monoply in Engines
The A380 most proberbly will be powered by GE’s new engines which are specially made for the A380. Atleast the prototype will be powered by the GE’s new engines. The A340-600 is powered by 4 Trents, usually the 340 is powered by CFM. Yes the 757 has slightly larger quantity of thrust, thats only 1,000 lbs more so that it dosent affect much.
RE: Lockheed L-1011 TriStar
Totally agreed V1, i have been on a Tristar, an old one though. Very comfy and all. The Tristar dissapeared because of Boeing only, Its like this Boeing wanted the monoply of the 777 and 767 and they needed to stop production of the DC-10 and the Lockheed Tristar for doing this. Also there was one problemn, the pilots were not happy with the machine. The Tristar was constently having problems with its rudder system and had to be grounded. Cathay Pacific used the Tristar widely, and they had the same compltain. But later on the rudder system was fixed, but know it had a bad name in every one’s mind, quite like the situation with the DC-10s boot doors. But a magnificent aircraft.
RE: Air NewZeland produces worlds second longest flight.
Well the flying time frm LA to Taipei is about ten hours. It all depends on the winds.
RE: Monoply in Engines
Totally agreed Mathew, but its not only the temprature that is seen in chosing an engine. Of course the engine is the basic part, but i think its experience which also goes in chosing an engine. BA has a tremendous experience with RR so the stick to it, they are not very risk taking like Air France. KLM, one of the oldest airlines in the world are RR customers. RR being the one of the oldest engine makers, have advantage which is leaving little room for new players as GE.
RE: Can anyone confirm this???
Not at all Frank, i am very happy with my efforts, i didnt collect anything frm the net, i met a Concordefan guy, 62 year old British named Albert, he was a big help. I dont know why the net didnt strike me;)
RE: Monoply in Engines
3rd batch of Northwest B747 are powered by RR.
RE: Monoply in Engines
Well, the new CFM T3568 or somethin like that will be out in about 2 months is going to beat them all according to aviation analysist. Ofcourse the Trent is the best engine one could get, but GE’s technology is a step ahead.
RE: Monoply in Engines
Thank you for the info.:)

RE: How’s Jordanian
thanx all for the feedback, i think i’ll try it. And late or not, Saudi pilots were charged for rash flying by the IGI International of India. I saw them my self, they flew very low there 747-200 and took very sharp cuts. This as i remember reminds me of a B-52 Bomber whos pilot was charged for rash flying, and he crashed soon after that.
RE: BA gets rid of it’s tacky tails!
Well i am not surprised as well if they plan to make those fancy tails dissapear. I came to know that they did a survey on this and came to know that people came to know that people prefer one purticulor colour scheme. This survey was done i think with BA’s frequent flyers. Well i never liked there colour schemed one bit, all that money will know just go down the drain. The logo and the colour scheme of an airline is its skin by witch people recognise it. BA tried to keep that by putting there logo between the upper deck and the lower deck, but i have experienced most people get confused what airline it is, A purticular BA 747 has visited most here, it has kindof a chinese painting of White and Black markings. People thought a new airline, but found BA.
