The last time it erupted trhere was no disruption to flying, was there? Was that because the wind direction was favourable for the duration, in the sense that the ash was dissipated away from the flight corridors?

I live in the land of milk and honey..the weather is nearly always great ..loads of opportunities for future of one’s kids and grand kids ..the fantastic beaches..the laid back lifestyle..what more could you want

agreed Steve… the Melbourne area is absolutely fantastic to live in. All eminities, excellent eateries, brilliant pubs, lovely people and mostly great weather.

In fact my family has just bought a retreat in Burwood for our continuously growing visits down under. A nice cottage somewhere around Echuca would not be bad too for the weekends. 🙂

Other than Australia my favorite towns probably to live in would be Copenhagen and Dublin.

Personally i don’t quite like Paris that much.

Why were BA long-haul flights allowed to take off if LHR is not officially open yet?

Good day gentlemen, don’t mind me barging in but I thought I would pick up some thoughts from you folk.

What is the general consensus here on migrants? I am not talking about illeegal migrants or migrants who come to UK for petty jobs but professional migrants that many British companies are seeking to employ from around the world?

I don’t know what the consensus on this issue is (except the BNP of course who keep saying the UK is full as if they are referring to a bucket or a beaker:rolleyes:) for the parties running in the elections but I have heard its becoming quite an issue slowly in UK.

I ask this because of an incident at the British High Commission in New Delhi recently when a English gentleman in his 60s maybe, came up to me for some help finding the right cue at the high commission. I guided him to the right counter and later he came and sat next to me and asked what i was going to the UK for, i replied ‘work’ and he suddenly shot “we don’t have any work for you folks anymore…. you all need to understand this, coming in plane loads when there is nothing for you there”. He then got up and left. :rolleyes:

I was quite taken aback by this, migration is an ‘issue’ in most developed countries. What stands are the candidates taking before the elections on this issue?

Even if flights do resume soon airlines are going to have a torrid time clearing out the backlog.

Well my father has been stuck in London for 2 days now. He was booked on LHR-DEL on AI and AI has cancelled all LHR flights without any info.

Not good for airlines at all, the losses of this event may become unbearable for some carriers!
