Stress is very high in medical and nursing situations. However, the article spectacularly fails to consider how much of the stress is directly related to the running of the hospitals. Staffing levels, budget constraints, equipment shortages (anything from ventilators to sticky tape) junior Doctors who are often at best careless and at worst downright dangerous. Has any of this been taken into consideration?

Teamwork? It is difficult to encourage teamwork when so many staff are bank or agency who work just the one shift on your ward and you never see them again. Nursing in particular is all about the continuity of care. With the NHS situation as it is currently, this is rarely possible. Handover reports were mandatory, but I have in the past worked on wards where no report was given so as an agency nurse, I had no idea what was wrong with the patients I was entrusted to care for.

Personally, unless the money is provided to secure the infrastructure and to provide adequate staffing levels, I don’t see how these talks will help. However, if proper staffing levels were adhered to and the buget was aavailable to adequately provision wards, then these talks may well have a beneficial effect.

Interesting. I think Harris believed and therefore directed Bomber Command operations in the way he did as a drive to win the war by air power. At a time when Bomber Command was the only way of hitting back it was undoubtedly good for morale and the knock on effect of diverting some German forces to defensive duties may have played an important part in other areas. As the German Officer says in the Battle of Britain film ‘even Spitfire’s can’t be in two places at once.’ This can be equally applied to Luftwaffe fighter strength and to the numbers of German service personnel employed in the anti-aircraft role.

Arguing the truth is not revisionist is it? It’s not revisionist because we are now able to access information, papers, reports etc., which were not publically available when many histories were written. it’s not revising history, just expanding our knowledge and understanding.

The Dams raid is legendary. Although not as successful as anticipated from a military point of view, the effect on the morale of the British public must have been significant. Likewise, German morale must have been dented in as much as forces were withdrawn from other areas to stiffen home defence.

I’ve given you some advice (which you call ‘useless comments’) which I have learned the hard way, through experience which has been costly financially and emotionally. People are trying to help you but you have such inbred arrogance that you cannot help yourself throwing any advice or encouragement back in people’s faces.

I dread to think of the response you will receive from those you will need to help you achieve your aims. Your attitude will doom you and your projects to failure. But, if that’s what you want, you just carry on the way you are.

Anyway, why am I bothering, I wouldn’t know anything that could possibly be of any benefit to an expert such as yourself, would I?
