That’s the point though, your Uncle and the dozens of other people murdered in recent weeks didn’t get a silence in their memory.
It seems like the media and politicians are only interested in dramatic murders.
I think you miss the point Steve. My Uncle’s death affected a very small number of people in comparison to those affected by last Thursday’s murders. His death, significant as it was to his family, could never have had the impact on the Nation that the bombings have had. The death of my Uncle was at the hands of an individual, a common thief, not at the hands of a group of Religious extremists whose sole intention is to destroy Western Society.

Tony.
Scan the photographs to file, doesn’t matter how big they are and save in my pictures. Then use photoshop or I think there is a microsoft programme already on your pc with which you can reduce them to 800×600 pixels. That should bring them under the forum limit.
If you need any more explanation I am sure there are plenty of folk on here who can tell you far better than I can how to do it.
Keep posting those images. They are a refreshing change.

It’s a kind gesture but a empty one in my opinion.
I stopped. I don’t think halting my life for two minutes to remember those who have had their lives taken away from them is too much to ask. My uncle was murdered a while ago. I think of him every day.
Still, Perhaps I’m just the sort of person who likes to make ’empty’ gestures.

You could always tell Jules it’s for research purposes. I’m sure she’d believe you.

Welcome.
Don’t feel strange about being interested in aviation. It’s just a passing phase we go through. I’ve been interested in aviation in most of its forms for the larger part of….ahem…. 40 years now, though I still think there might be a couple of forumites who could beat that.
This is a lively, friendly place with many people, including aircrew, willing to help and share information. The Historic and General Aviation forums are very similar in mood to this forum. Should you feel the need to venture into Modern Military or General Discussion, it may be advisable to strap on a tin hat!
Enjoy your interest, and welcome to the wonderful world of anorakdom.

Beside the fact that killing solves nothing but creates martyrs, you are mistaken:
I apologise, I was still under the obviously mistaken impression that the death penalty still stood for treason.
Killing solves nothing but creates martyrs. And keeping the perpetrators in prison does what? As the Israeli’s found out it gives the prisoners comrades a reason to hijack, kidnap and murder. Baader-Meinhoff ring any bells? Red Brigade? If those guilty of their crimes had been executed, then further crimes in an attempt to gain the prisoners freedom may not have occurred.

Having read your post I’m sure everyone will heave a collective sigh of relief at the knowledge that you were so close to being involved but came through unscathed. Am I afraid? Possibly, but I don’t want to admit that even to myself because if I do then it’s another little victory for them. And I don’t want to give them the satisfaction.
Glad you had a good trip.

I got caught out by the goat boy and an accomplice on Saturday.
Rings Snapper on mobile…
“Have you seen Steve Young about only I need to find him as I’ve got something to give him for his son?”
“No, mate, he didn’t meet us where he was supposed to…….”
Conversation rattles on for about five minutes re meeting up and keeping an eye out for Steve etc. Mark says “Where are you” “In flypast enclosure” I replied. “I’m on the flight line, hang on I’ll give you a flash…….”
Ten Minutes later the phone rang. “Hiya Mate it’s Steve.”
“You don’t half sound like Mark on the phone” says I.
Two hours later Steve tells me it was him I’d been speaking to as well as Mark. They’d took me in like a pawn shop!
Best comment I heard was when the Catalina was flying on Saturday…. “Isn’t that a Sunderland?” To which his mate replied “No, a Sunderland’s got four engines, like in the Lancaster over there.” He pointed and I looked as he pointed out that most graceful of bombers, Pink Lady.

Off topic!
This kind of quote is unacceptable. Comet was banned from Luchtzak for very good reasons.

Perhaps you should mention this in a private message to the Moderator Grey area rather than on the open forum?

Garry and Barnowl.
I think you’re wrong with this. The word B*st*rd does indeed have a derogatory connotation in common usage today, although it does have its origins in describing the offspring of someone born out of wedlock. There is, in fact, a Pte ******* named on my local War Memorial. In name form it was often pronounced Bayst-tard, or B’stard, as in the tv series.
However, Crazymainer’s question is…
“Why is B**St** A bad word”
I’m still trying to get letters to fit the blanks to make a comprehensible seven letter word in the English language.
Ahhh, got it. It’s Blasted isn’t it?
