BHX is my nearest and the most common aircraft have to be the BA ERJ’s, but there are plenty of Dash 8’s from flybe, A320/321 from My Travel, Crj’s from duo. There’s a good mix altogether though. Emirates seem to be using 777’s on their daily flights at the moment.

My time for a career in aviation is long, long past. My fault, for not doing what I should have done when I was younger, but chance easily passes you by while your back is turned and then suddenly it’s too late. I also have mobility problems now which, at the age of 42, precludes doing anything active. So, what’s all this waffle about?……. Taking your chances while you can. I wish everyone success in their chosen career, some of you are already well on your way.

For me? It’s not quite all over…. I can’t do many of those jobs but I can write, and that, my friends, is where my future lies.

Good luck to all of us, for one thing is certain, at some point, we’re going to need it!

It may interest people to know that ‘idiocy’ was an official term for one of the classifications for what we know call ‘learning disability’, as were cretin, moron, lunatic, feeble-mindedness and a few others which I have now forgotten.

I’ve supported skylinerworld but respect where respect is due. And if you can’t show respect for the views of the likes of Wysiwyg, Moondance, Skycruiser, Spotty M Driver, Whiskey Delta and some of the other long term residents I would question whether there is any longer a place here for those who display the same attitudes as skylinerworld.

    Dear Mr. Frew,

congratulations on having your photograph used as a front cover for this DVD. For those humble souls amongst us, it is indeed an honour to have known you before you achieved notoriety. If we should meet again at a forum ‘do’, please, allow me the signal honour of carrying your camera bag.

    I remain, your obedient servant….

Seriously, it looks great, if I were you I’d feel justifiably proud.

Any news on your video yet?

    Regards,

I think I might pop across to see if I can get a shot of that. Hopefully they’ll be using 33 as they are today. Makes for decent approach shots (assuming of course that you’re a photographer:o ). Can any of the pilots give me the name of the area or town on which the ‘Chase Hold’ is centred please? Could it actually be Barr or Sedgley beacons?

EAL_KING (April fools) on messenger is the one who was using the bad language in the post that Flood couldn’t follow above. So Chris, why do you resort to swearing and aggression in many of your posts? Traits very similar to those shown by EAL340, whom, of course, you condemn?

    Just wondering….

The 1st of April is almost certainly significant. It was on April 1st 1918 that the Royal Air Force was formed as a result of the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service.

Definitely not an April Fool’s thing. It all got heated the other night and Andrew was singled out in particular. Andrew has, as far as I can see, done absolutely nothing wrong and has no reason to leave on those grounds. Others discussed leaving as well due to the intervention of EAL_340 who pulled the thread so there was no evidence of his abusive attacks.

I agree with Flood. Come back Andrew.

What a fantastic thread!!!! Summer camps gone? I had the good fortune to do three. Coningsby;) , Swinderby:( and Lossiemouth:D , all in the mid 70’s. So many highlights. Gliding at Tern Hill and Cosford, a fantastic week at Coningsby even though I broke my wrist on the second day, flights in a Luftwaffe CH53 and a Danish Dakota at Lossie, having to throw ourselves flat on the deck when Lossie was ‘attacked’ by Buccaneers, winched into a Whirlwind at Coningsby….

And the drill… Always enjoyed that so much. And RAF DI’s, the gob on ’em. Remember bed packs? And the camp photo, who’s going to be brave enough to put theirs up first?

You know, I reckon we could talk about this forever…..

That attitude is all well and good but remember that a 737 went down at COV a few years back and could have had catastrophic consequences for people living near the airfield. It was bad enough that the crew were killed. I think that if the protests against Thomsonfly prove successful then Thomsonfly will just move to BHX.

The airport is very quiet during the day with most movements taking place at night.

Don’t remember the video at all. Our briefings were conducted by one of the pilots. Mind you they hadn’t got videos then, 1974-77. I do remember the film about weapon handling and range safety though, where the two guys are playing about with the SLR.

What should they have done with concorde?
Well I think if they couldn’t have passengers on they should be freighters.
    Viewing @ Heathrow.
Well, well, well, this needs to be improved! That’s all I can say about this one!
Which do you like,Fokker or Embraer and why?
Well,I don’t know, maybe Embraer because KLM give them a bad point of view with the state of them!
    There,
    skylinerworld.

Well done skylinerworld. At least you are making an effort.

Concorde was another accident waiting to happen. I’m pleased they were grounded. They were never truly successful as a pax aircraft so there is no way in the world they could ever earn their keep as freighters.

Viewing at Heathrow. You mean viewing is available? Don’t like the visitor centre and hanker for the days of the 70’s and 80’s when you could spend all day on the Queen’s building. I hear that that was closed as it had no disabled access. As someone with a disability myself I would still like to see it open even if I can’t access it.

Embraer or Fokker? Doesn’t really bother me. But the Fokkers have a dirty tail (starboard side?) due to the positioning of the APU exhaust.

Anyone else care to join in?
