Good idea, post a list. You could also try http://www.kingkit.co.uk based in Shropshire but he didn’t offer me much when i was offloading some kits.

If what Damien says is true, and I have absolutely NO reason to doubt it, I can understand his support for MAM. I visit once or twice a year and every time I go you can see a difference. Progress is being made on one airframe or another all the time. Recently the Voodoo, Meteor and Javelin have had repaints with the Vulcan ongoing. I know very little of experimental aircraft, it’s never really been my interest, but if the P111 is deemed to be so important why did a National Museum not take it into their care? I agree Boulton Paul have done wonders with their P2 and Defiant so why didn’t they want it?

Firstly, can I say a big thank you to everyone for the fantastic photo’s on this thread. Memories which had long since faded are brought back to life as freshly as if it were yesterday. Please keep them coming.

It’s upsetting to look back at aircraft, pilots and airfields that are no longer with us…
I was browsing through some of my parents old photo albums when i came across a collection of photos from some of the 80’s warbird shows. Duxford, Biggin Hill, North Weald and primarily, the Great Warbirds Air Display at West Malling (now Kings Hill 😡 ).
The latter was our local show which we attend every year without fail from start to finish.
I started to get very sentimental and decided to scan them all, so i have copies on my PC to look at whenever I want.
I thought i’d share some of them with you guys to see what you think, maybe they’ll stir some memories up – i’d love to hear some of your personal recollections of those fantastic shows!

Beware, they are not DamienB/Manonthefence masterpieces, but i think they’re ok ;).

I don’t think it’s upsetting at all. Of course we feel a certain sadness for those that have gone, both the men and the machines, but for myself, I think of them fondly. I’ve said before these are the men and machines that gave wings to our dreams. We owe them a debt, and that debt is not our grief or our mourning, but rather our joy at what they gave us. It is sad that so many have lost their lives display flying but they died doing something that they loved. And they have left us, the majority of whom never met them, with these endearing and enduring images and memories which we will all treasure forever.

Is Dotty innocent? Well, she’s alledged to be, and innocent of the attack on a maid. Florence is now the alledged guilty party. But is Florence acting as the fall guy/girl for Dotty? Does Florence really exist? Are Dotty and Florence one and the same? If Florence takes the rap for Dotty’s initial suspicion of being a Corgi killer, who will take the blame for Florence attacking the maid? Who is the third English Bull Terrier not yet named? Are there a never ending line up of them just waiting to take the blame for the misdemeanours of one of the other dogs? Or is this just a ploy by the Royal Family to avoid having a dangerous dog/dogs destroyed? The Princess Royal already has a criminal conviction because of Dotty’s first attack on a child some time ago.

The real question that needs to be asked though is…

    Does anyone really care?

    Warhawk.

That’s done it! My dog Duke (pictured previously) just opened one eye and happened to see your Abbey sat in the car. He is furious. He wants to know why Abbey has a better car than he does. He’s also made some disparaging comments about my driving, cheeky bu**er. And snow! He wants some noe, there’s just no pleasing him. Glad I’m going out for the day because I think he might resort to chemical warfare to get his revenge. Just got to make sure he keeps away from the prawn cocktail crisps while…… I…. can stilllll….. brea…….

Ant, you may have a point about the canopies, never thought of that. By the way your aircraft with the downturned wingtips by the Vulcan, is, I believe, the roof of a shed. And I don’t mean a Shorts 330;)

Can anyone identify this vertical tail section please? Think it might be a Mystere…

Thank you Snapper. I’d actually just fallen over, a common occurrance as you know, and thought this looks ok.
