Hi, all. I have a problem, well I have many but one in particular. It’s possible that I won’t have a car to drive to the meet in as it’s failed its MOT on a seatbelt. Problem now is that unless the belt fron a Vauxhall Agila fits my Suzuki Wagon, I have to wait three weeks for a replacement.

So, is anyone from the West Midlands area travelling down who would have room for me and my wheelchair? I know it’s a big ask but I would be happy to share petrol costs. Hopefully, things will turn out alright and I might be worrying for nothing, but if anyone can help, just in case, could they let me know please?

If things do turn out for the worse, I hope you all have a really good time.

    Regards,

The aviation experience is open at BHX for a pound entry with a shop and good facilities. The outdoor area next to the car park is still open with a free courtesy bus to the terminal. There’s no outdoor toilet but it’s a good spot. Where most of my BHX photos are taken.

The father of a friend of mine flew a tour as a Flight Engineer on Mk II’s with 514 Squadron from Waterbeach I think. He liked them, think his aircraft was LL635. His crew completed 31 ops so they could finish their tour together. Didn’t have a bad word to say about the Lancaster, unlike the Stirlings he instructed on later.

    DHfan.

“As most of us won’t know each other, milling space (and time) would seem to be a good idea.”

Just keep an eye out for a sizeable number of anoraks and that’ll be us. After Robert Rudhall’s excellent presentation on the BoB film a few of us were getting quite anoraky. MH434 anyone?

If in any doubt look for a blue blob in a wheelchair, that’ll be me.

Probably not what you’d like to hear but being present at, and assisting in an abdominal/perineal excision of rectum. A huge piece of surgery which revealed just how fascinating the internal workings of the human body are to me.

Assisting in the delivery of a baby (first class, I’ll say it before anyone else does).

Being there when an eight year old girl with profound and multiple learning disabilities took her first ever steps.

Realising that the old man in the corner of the ward was being uncooperative because, for want of a better phrase, medical experiments had been carried out on him in a concentration camp and he was having flashbacks.

In a Chipmunk at 14 when the pilot says “You have control.”

Thanks to the support and encouragement of a number of people, realising that the fact my legs are now bordering on useless doesn’t make any difference at all to who I am.

All pretty mundane really compared to some people’s experiences.

There’s a fair at the Aviation Experience at BHX this saturday if anyone’s interested. Said to be stalls, author signings and other things going on. Think i’m going to go and have a look.

Rumour on another board suggests that the 4 ATR’s are in fact ex Brit Air examples. A further unsubstantiated rumour suggests that Air Atlantique are writing operations manuals for the F100. Though how he has that information remains unclear.

    Ian.

Welcome back, hope you enjoyed your holiday. The ATR is the ex Highland Express aircraft I believe. Have you heard whether they are looking for crew for anything else? Maybe F100?

I did see mention of Air Atlantique starting passenger services. They have acquired an ATR 42 or 72 and also have an Embraer Brasilia belonging to the now defunct Omega Air? Sure I saw something about them having tested other aircraft with a view to pax ops. I’ll see if I can find it.

    Hello, Zippo.

“Come to think again, I have to admit that this is a stupid thread and I should not have participated in the first place.”

Your withdrawal from the thread may be welcomed by some.

“Stupid, because it is obvious it has been started in order to provoke the Americans (and Canadians?) in this board, to react the way they have.”

Zippo, you credit me with far too much intelligence. Surely I wouldn’t have the mental capacity to grasp such an abstract concept.

“It seems Kev35 (Kevin the teenager?) enjoys this kind of stuff.”

A teenager, how dare you. I will be thirteen next April. Actually it’s more like kevin the gerbil but you wouldn’t follow that. Funnily enough it seems to have provoked you as well.
